GENE POWER was difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, GENE POWER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. SMART FORTUNE and GENE POWER bumped at the start. From a wide barrier, FINEZZA was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After the 800 Metres, FIONN’S DRAGON was awkwardly placed close to the heels of QUANTUM POWER. Near the 650 Metres, GIANTS SERAPIS and QUANTUM POWER were taken wider by COSTA DEL SOL which shifted out. At the entrance to the Straight, DIEGO and SMART FORTUNE bumped. OPEN SESAME had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Near the 300 Metres, BEST CITY bumped the hindquarters of QUANTUM POWER when improving into a tight run between that horse and COSTA DEL SOL. This resulted in both QUANTUM POWER and COSTA DEL SOL becoming unbalanced. A short distance later, BEST CITY was checked away from the heels of COSTA DEL SOL (Apprentice K C Ng) which shifted out under pressure. GENE POWER, which was following BEST CITY and had been held up for clear running, was checked in consequence. Apprentice Ng was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to keep his mounts on a straight course in future. GENE POWER was steadied near the 200 Metres when disappointed for running between BEST CITY and OPEN SESAME, both of which shifted ground. BEST CITY then had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance after the 200 Metres. Right on the finishing line, FINEZZA was checked away from the heels of FIONN’S DRAGON due to both horses shifting ground. Throughout the race, QUANTUM POWER travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of QUANTUM POWER after the race did not show any significant findings. BEST CITY, FIONN’S DRAGON and ALL VICTORY were sent for sampling.
