AMITYSHIP was withdrawn on 28.5.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetance) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GO LUCKY GO (W M Lai). Before being allowed to race again, AMITYSHIP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Whilst in the saddling stalls, INTELLECTUALSTRIDE had its right front plate refitted. INTELLECTUALSTRIDE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. INTELLECTUALSTRIDE lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently was slow to begin. ABLE CHARM knuckled over at the start. MR MARFACH was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, BEST CITY was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After the 1000 Metres, INTELLECTUALSTRIDE, OPEN SESAME, BEST CITY and MR MARFACH all proved difficult to settle. Approaching the first turn after the 900 Metres, HO WONGCHOY shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of GLENEALY STAR which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of EIGHT PLUS NINE. INTELLECTUALSTRIDE, which was following HO WONGCHOY and also proving very difficult to settle, was checked away from the heels of that horse and shifted out, resulting in ABLE CHARM being taken wider. Also after the 900 Metres, OPEN SESAME continued to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of WINNING EDGE. In this incident, OPEN SESAME shifted out, resulting in BEST CITY being taken wider. WINNING EDGE had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Near the 350 Metres, INTELLECTUALSTRIDE was steadied away from the heels of HO WONGCHOY which was taken out by GLENEALY STAR which itself was taken out by FULFIL A WISH which got its head on the side and shifted ground. For the majority of the race, ABLE CHARM travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of ABLE CHARM and INTELLECTUALSTRIDE after the race did not show any significant findings. FULFIL A WISH and EIGHT PLUS NINE were sent for sampling. <30/5/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>INTELLECTUALSTRIDE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. INTELLECTUALSTRIDE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer Y S Tsui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, INTELLECTUALSTRIDE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
