HAPPY FAT CAT (G166): After the event A Hamelin stated that with his mount being up in weight tonight he was unable to lead the event when SUPERB CAPITALIST set a strong pace in the early stages. He added in the Home Straight HAPPY FAT CAT did not respond to his riding and gave ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SUPERB CAPITALIST (H092): After the event Y L Chung stated that he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to cross to lead and as a result SUPERB CAPITALIST was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
POWER KOEPP (E301): Near the 400 Metres was eased and shifted to the outside of SOVEREIGN FUND to commence a forward move. Over the final 100 Metres lay in under pressure and approaching the winning post made contact with SOVEREIGN FUND. Sent for sampling post-race.
NUCLEOZOR (K285): No report.
SUPERB BOY (G335): When questioned regarding the performance of SUPERB BOY H Bowman stated that the horse is better suited when it is able to either dictate in the lead or race without having its momentum haltered. He said after allowing the expected leader HAPPY FAT CAT to cross his mount in the early stages SUPERB BOY was then disadvantaged when HAPPY FAT CAT did not improve into the race and this was, in his opinion, the reason why his mount did not run on strongly in the Home Straight. He added in the circumstances he was not too disappointed with the horse’s performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ROMANTIC SON (J537): Jumped awkwardly. For a short distance near the 300 Metres was held up for clear running. Near the 100 Metres was disappointed for clear running between SUPERB CAPITALIST and DRAGON FOUR SEAS which shifted in slightly.
EASON (G061): No report.
THE RED HARE (K312): Jumped only fairly and shortly afterwards became unbalanced and lost ground.
DRAGON FOUR SEAS (J317): Sent for sampling post-race.
GOLDEN RISE (H242): No report.
EVERSTAR (K264): Shifted in shortly after the start and was bumped. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
SOVEREIGN FUND (J402): The tongue tie was replaced on arrival at the Start. Shortly after the start bumped with EVERSTAR which shifted in. Prior to declaring weighed-in the Stewards gave consideration if there were sufficient grounds for a protest/objection due to POWER KOEPP shifting in over the concluding stages and making contact with SOVEREIGN FUND. When Jockey K Teetan declined to lodge a protest/objection and the Stewards were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds to do so weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. A Badel, the rider of POWER KOEPP, was advised to exercise more care and to stop riding and straighten his mounts when they shift ground and initiate contact with another runner. He was also warned about using the whip in a forehand manner forward of the saddle on one occasion over the concluding stages.
