NORTHERN BEACHES (H266): Near the 250 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of CHAMPION METHOD to obtain clear running. Prior to declaring weighed-in the Stewards gave consideration as to whether there were sufficient grounds for a protest/objection against RAINBOW SEVEN being declared the third placegetter. When the Stewards were satisfied that the slight contact between the two runners over the concluding stages was due to both runners shifting ground and having regard to the minor nature of the contact, they were satisfied there were not sufficient grounds and therefore declined to lodge a protest/objection when connections elected not to do so.
AUTUMN VIBES (K150): Jumped only fairly. Approaching the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid RAINBOW SEVEN. Approaching the 150 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between SEA SAPPHIRE and AEROVOLANIC, both of which shifted ground.
RAINBOW SEVEN (K145): Jumped awkwardly. Near the 1000 Metres was steadied when crowded between AEROVOLANIC which shifted out slightly and FLYING DOUBLE which shifted in when racing ungenerously despite the efforts of its rider. Approaching the 400 Metres shifted to the outside of SEA SAPPHIRE to improve and as a result made contact with CHAMPION METHOD.
AEROVOLANIC (K400): Leaving the 200 Metres rider Apprentice E C W Wong dropped his whip. Sent for sampling post-race.
NO OTHER CHOICE (K049): Jumped awkwardly and shortly after was steadied when crowded between WINNING DIAMOND and CHAMPION METHOD, both of which shifted ground.
TOURBILLON GOLFER (K320): Sent for sampling post-race.
WINNING DIAMOND (K216): Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 900 Metres got its head up when being steadied to avoid NORTHERN BEACHES. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BULLISH PRIDE (K181): Was left racing wide and without cover from the 900 Metres.
SEA SAPPHIRE (H343): Sent for sampling post-race.
CHAMPION METHOD (H366): Bumped approaching the 400 Metres.
KING ALLOY (K099): No report.
FLYING DOUBLE (J388): Jumped only fairly. When questioned K Teetan stated that the intention was to hold a slightly more forward position but he was unable to do so when his mount did not show sufficient pace. He said throughout the early and middle stages of the event FLYING DOUBLE raced very ungenerously, got its head up and refused to settle. He added whilst being crossed by CHAMPION METHOD (Apprentice P N Wong) when that runner shifted in when not quite clear, he was obliged to ease to avoid the heels of CHAMPION METHOD. Apprentice Wong was advised to exercise more care. He said after being steadied away from CHAMPION METHOD near the 450 Metres FLYING DOUBLE then did not finish the race off thereafter and he attributed the performance to the racing manners of the horse. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
