THE ABSOLUTE (H438): Raced wide and without cover from the 900 Metres. After the race, L Ferraris stated that his mount jumped only fairly and then despite riding it along in the early stages THE ABSOLUTE did not show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position. RUN RUN COOL (E322): Near the 900 Metres was steadied away from THE ABSOLUTE. After the race, H Bentley stated that when he had concerns with his mount’s action in the Home Straight, he eased it down when not in a competitive position. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, RUN RUN COOL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ARIEL (G223): Sent for sampling post-race. VOLCANIC SPARK (H388): Near the 400 Metres bumped with STARMEN. WAR OF COURAGE (C483): No report. MEEPMEEP (H234): For some distance near the 1000 Metres when being crossed by ARIEL refused to settle and as a result was checked to avoid that horse. Briefly held up near the 400 Metres. AMAZING AWARD (J236): Near the 900 Metres was steadied away from HOSS. STARMEN (J199): Bumped near the 400 Metres. GRAND CONQUEROR (H469): Jumped only fairly. SKY TRUST (J161): Sent for sampling post-race. GREAT ACHIEVER (J049): In the early stages got its head up and raced ungenerously when being crossed by WAR OF COURAGE. VULCANUS (J150): Jumped awkwardly and then shortly after the start was steadied when crowded by WAR OF COURAGE which shifted in. Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race. HOSS (H055): Near the 900 Metres when over-racing was checked to avoid SKY TRUST and shifted out as a consequence. HIGH RISE POWER (H353): After the race, L Hewitson reported that he was instructed to ride his mount in a positive manner in the early stages. He said after riding his mount along to comply with his instructions, HIGH RISE POWER raced keenly in the early stages and ultimately led the event.
