JOLLY HONOUR began only fairly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of AMAZING NEWS which became unbalanced. JOLLY HONOUR was then steadied to obtain a position closer to the rail.
From the outside barriers, FLASH FAMOUS and ANGELS HUNTER were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
KARUIZAWA got its head up on a number of occasions and travelled keenly in the early stages when being steadied to obtain cover.
After the 1600 Metres, JOY MASTER momentarily raced in restricted room outside VUKAN after being bumped by AMAZING NEWS which got its head on the side and lay in away from MEDIC ELITE.
Passing the 1300 Metres, VUKAN raced tight inside LONDON LUCKYSTAR which shifted in when being steadied to obtain a position with cover behind MEDIC ELITE.
After passing the winning post on the first occasion, JOLLY HONOUR and ONE STEP AHEAD bumped.
AMAZING NEWS travelled wide and without cover from approaching the 1100 Metres until passing the 600 Metres.
Approaching the 500 Metres, ONE STEP AHEAD and ANGELS HUNTER raced tight as ANGELS HUNTER improved inside KARUIZAWA which commenced to give ground. In the incident, ANGELS HUNTER became unbalanced.
Approaching the 300 Metres, MEDIC ELITE shifted in and bumped OUR CREED.
At the 300 Metres, VUKAN and AMAZING NEWS brushed.
Passing the 250 Metres, ONE STEP AHEAD was struck across the nose by the whip of H Bowman (JOLLY HONOUR).
FLASH FAMOUS was held up for clear running from passing the 150 Metres until after the 50 Metres. Because of this, FLASH FAMOUS was not able to be properly tested.
Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of L Currie (ONE STEP AHEAD) over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless advised to ensure that he continues to ride his mounts out to the end of the race where appropriate circumstances permit.
A veterinary inspection of KARUIZAWA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
AMAZING NEWS, LONDON LUCKYSTAR and JOLLY HONOUR were sent for sampling.
