OWNERS' PRAISE (H047): From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. BEATO (H090): Held up between the 350 Metres and the 250 Metres before obtaining a narrow run inside SUPER LEGENDS. Sent for sampling post-race. ENDEARED (H161): Bumped near the 450 Metres. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FUN TOGETHER (H041): Sent for sampling post-race. SUPER LEGENDS (H364): Knuckled over shortly after the start. Lay out on the Home Turn and under pressure in the Home Straight. Passing the 250 Metres was taken out and bumped. HAPPY FOR ALL (H181): Jumped only fairly and then was badly crowded shortly after the start. In this incident blundered when struck the heels of SONIC BOOM. CELTIC TIMES (G230): Sent for sampling post-race. STERLING WONGCHOY (H273): From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Raced keenly in the early stages and approaching the 1100 Metres was steadied away from SUNLIGHT POWER. SUNLIGHT POWER (H244): In the middle stages raced keenly and for some distance after the 900 Metres was steadied away from YOUNG HORIZON. From the 550 Metres was held up for clear running and near the 450 Metres shifted to the outside of YOUNG HORIZON to secure clear running and in doing so bumped ENDEARED. Apprentice Y L Chung (BEATO) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after improving into a narrow run to the inside of SUPER LEGENDS passing the 250 Metres, he allowed his mount to shift out, resulting in SUPER LEGENDS being taken out across the running of YOUNG HORIZON, resulting in YOUNG HORIZON being unnecessarily crowded and steadied and YOUNG HORIZON then being taken out, causing SUNLIGHT POWER to be checked away from the heels of YOUNG HORIZON. Apprentice Chung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 6 December 2023 and to expire on Monday, 11 December 2023 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Apprentice Chung was fined $60,000. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MR ALADDIN (H386): Near the 100 Metres, A Atzeni dropped his whip. MASSIVE TALENT (H282): After the race, L Hewitson advised that with the horse stepping up in distance today, he was instructed to ride MASSIVE TALENT in a more prominent position. MAXIMIZE HEART (D311): No report. SONIC BOOM (H144): No report. YOUNG HORIZON (G272): Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages. Passing the 250 Metres was steadied when crowded. When questioned, C Y Ho stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position but not to make use of his mount to do so as at its last start YOUNG HORIZON had not finished the race off strongly when ridden in this manner. He said in the early stages when positioned to the outside of SUPER LEGENDS, he elected not to ride his mount forward to cross that runner as he was mindful of his instructions. He said he then endeavoured to obtain a position behind SUPER LEGENDS near the 1200 Metres, but when MR ALADDIN improved to his inside, he was then unable to shift in which resulted in YOUNG HORIZON being obliged to race wide and without cover for the remainder of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
