SUPER CLAN began very awkwardly and lost ground. GLORIOUS SUN stood flat-footed as the start was effected and missed the start by a considerable distance. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that GLORIOUS SUN was lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, GLORIOUS SUN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Approaching the 1000 Metres, FLYING PROSPERITY proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. Making the Home Turn, EXPECTATOR was awkwardly placed behind FLYING PROSPERITY and TRAVEL AMBASSADOR which was laying in. When attempting a run between KITAYA and ACTUARIAT near the 250 Metres, SUPER CLAN (S de Sousa) shifted out and bumped heavily with ACTUARIAT, resulting in both horses becoming badly unbalanced. S de Sousa was severely reprimanded for his lack of judgement when shifting ground in this incident. Over the final 150 Metres, PO CHING TREASURE was awkwardly placed behind VICTORY MASTER and WORKS OF ART and consequently was not able to be properly tested. KITAYA travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. WORKS OF ART, SUPER SPRINTER and HAPPY AND HEALTHY were sent for sampling.
