STEP FASTER was withdrawn on 9.7.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetence) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter CREATIVE UNION. Before being allowed to race again, STEP FASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CREATIVE UNION was crowded for room at the start between RISING POWER which began awkwardly and shifted in and RECORD AGAIN which shifted out. A short distance after the start, CREATIVE UNION and RECORD AGAIN were again crowded for room by GOOD HONG KONG which, after initially shifting out, then shifted out further after being bumped on the hindquarters by RECORD AGAIN. From a wide barrier, NO TIES was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, DASHING FORTUNE failed to muster speed and when racing wide was taken across behind runners making the turn near the 1000 Metres. After the 900 Metres, RISING POWER commenced to prove very difficult to settle and shifted in when racing ungenerously, resulting in CREATIVE UNION being crowded for room outside the heels of GOOD HONG KONG. For a considerable distance after this, RISING POWER continued to race ungenerously and got its head up on a number of occasions. The racing manners of RISING POWER were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, RISING POWER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend. Making the turn approaching the 600 Metres, GOOD HONG KONG raced tight inside JADE CHRISTY which got its head on the side and shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of NOVEL START. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, RISING POWER, which was continuing to race ungenerously, lost ground when crowded for room between DASHING FORTUNE and CREATIVE UNION which commenced to prove difficult to settle and shifted out away from the heels of JADE CHRISTY. Passing the 200 Metres, DEHERE’S THE LOVE, which was giving ground after travelling wide and without cover throughout the race, was steadied away from the heels of JADE CHRISTY (J Moreira) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. J Moreira was advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances. In the Straight, NO TIES hung in and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, DASHING FORTUNE travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that NO TIES had lost its left front plate. A veterinary inspection of DEHERE’S THE LOVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had lost its left front plate. GOOD HONG KONG, JADE CHRISTY and FLAME HERO were sent for sampling. <11/7/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>DEHERE’S THE LOVE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings other than the horse had lost its left front plate. DEHERE’S THE LOVE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Size this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, DEHERE’S THE LOVE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
