When the gates opened, EXPLODING bounded in the air and lost a considerable amount of ground. ENCOSTA DON, which was fractious in its stall, began awkwardly and lost ground and after this travelled wide and without cover for the major part of the race. Throughout the race, GLENEALY VIKING raced greenly, made the turn at the 1000 Metres awkwardly, got its head up and was checked away from the heels of GREEN SUPER. EXPLODING, which was following, was checked in consequence, then commenced to race ungenerously and for a considerable distance hung out. The racing manners of GLENEALY VIKING were considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, GLENEALY VIKING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend. Near the 900 Metres, GLENEALY VIKING became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of GREEN SUPER. For a considerable distance approaching and passing the 400 Metres, TAI HANG'S PRIDE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of HUSSLER. SUPER FIGHTER, EXPLODING and SUPER SPECIAL were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, SUPER FIGHTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had sustained a wound to its right hind fetlock. Also after the race, SUPER SPECIAL was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. A veterinary inspection of EXPLODING after the race did not show any significant findings. HUSSLER, MY TIME and TAI HANG'S PRIDE were sent for sampling.
