Near the 600 Metres was steadied when crowded between HERO STAR which lay out and SWEET DIAMOND (A Badel) which shifted in when not quite clear. A Badel was advised to exercise more care. ALLOY KING (D287): After the 50 Metres was bumped by SAME TO YOU which shifted out. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. HERO STAR (D033): No report. SAME TO YOU (H057): Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running. SUPER AXIOM (E105): Sent for sampling post-race. SWEET DIAMOND (G063): No report. MODEST GENTLEMAN (G352): Jumped only fairly. When questioned regarding his riding out approaching the finish of the event, C L Chau advised that during the running of the race his vision became impaired due to some kickback from the track. He said over the concluding stages he stopped riding MODEST GENTLEMAN for one stride before realising his mount had not reached the winning post which resulted in him resuming riding it out to the finish. Jockey Chau was reprimanded and advised that he must show better judgement than what he did on this occasion and ensure his mounts are ridden out to the end of the race. Sent for sampling post-race. TIMESTORM (G109): Raced in restricted room shortly after the start. ISLAND SURPRISE (E429): No report. AUGUST MOON (D409): Raced wide and without cover from the 600 Metres. Passing the 50 Metres was steadied to avoid ALLOY KING. GOODMANSHIP (E208): No report. NOIR RIDER (E138): Jumped only fairly. Despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position. After the race, M L Yeung stated that with his mount dropping back to 1000 Metres it was out-paced in the early stages and, in his opinion, would be better suited being stepped up distance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.

NORTHERN BEAST (H233): Sent for sampling post-race. MASTER OF LUCK (G276): A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. AMAZING BOY (D513): From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. DIAMOND DIAMOND (H189): From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages and got its head up. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FORTUNE PRESIDENT (G054): Slow to begin. For some distance near the 1500 Metres raced tight to the inside of MASTER OF LUCK when that runner was taken in by HANG’S CHOICE. MEDIC ELITE (G129): Shifted in on jumping and was bumped. YEABOI (G372): After the race, L Ferraris advised that with the expected lack of early pace in the event he was instructed to take up a forward position from his wide barrier. He said YEABOI travelled satisfactorily throughout the early and middle stages and when the pace of the event increased near the 600 Metres YEABOI came under pressure and failed to respond to his riding from that point. SMART BEAUTY (G477): M F Poon (FOXHUNTER WAY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out, resulting in SMART BEAUTY being crowded for room between FOXHUNTER WAY and NORTHERN BEAST and having to be checked. M F Poon was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 1 May 2024 at Happy Valley. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record. FOXHUNTER WAY (E296): Bumped at the start. M F Poon pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 200 Metres (see SMART BEAUTY). HANG'S CHOICE (E311): No report.

Throughout the early and middle stages raced keenly and for some distance after the 800 Metres got its head up when positioned behind CHEONG FAT. GLORY CLOUD (H320): From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. TEAM HAPPY (J218): Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned close to DAN ATTACK which shifted out. BRAVO WARRIOR (J088): Jumped awkwardly and then bumped with PARENTS’ LOVE. PARENTS' LOVE (H405): Bumped at the start. After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that his instructions were to go forward and lead. He added with his mount stepping up in distance tonight PARENTS’ LOVE raced too keenly and although he was aware that his mount was setting a fast pace, he was unable to restrain it to set a more sustainable pace throughout the early stages. He said as a result PARENTS’ LOVE weakened in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of PARENTS’ LOVE was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race start. Before being allowed to race again, PARENTS’ LOVE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SATIRICAL GLORY (H073): After the race, H Bowman stated that when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to continue forward to cross FOREVER GLORIOUS. He added with the early sections of the race being run inside of standard time, SATIRICAL GLORY gave ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SATIRICAL GLORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race. FOREVER GLORIOUS (G229): No report. INVINCIBLE MISSILE (C037): No report. CONCERTO (E176): Near the 100 Metres, when giving ground, was steadied away from TURTLE AGAIN which shifted out. After the race, B Thompson stated that his mount travelled only fairly throughout the early and middle stages of the event and whilst it made some ground in the Home Straight did not finish the race off in the same manner as it did at its previous two wins. After the race, K Teetan reported that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages as PAKISTAN FRIEND had not finished its races off when being ridden in a forward position at its most recent starts. CELESTIAL COLOURS (H362): When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages, H Bowman stated that the intention was to lead on the horse. He said after commencing well he noticed JOY COMING to his inside being ridden vigorously by its rider L Hewitson. He said approaching the first turn he was of the opinion he would have had to make use of his mount to cross JOY COMING and when he was satisfied that the pace of the event was sufficient to allow him to race outside of JOY COMING, he elected to remain to its outside. He added that entering the Back Straight CELESTIAL COLOURS took some time to balance up and after being placed under pressure in the Home Straight CELESTIAL COLOURS’ run ended near the 100 Metres. He further stated that, in his view, the horse would derive benefit from tonight’s performance. GREAT STATE (J124): From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the race, K De Melo reported that his mount dipped on a number of occasions under pressure in the Home Straight and he had some concern with its action. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, GREAT STATE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KAHOLO ANGEL (H216): Despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position. Raced keenly in the middle stages and near the 500 Metres was steadied away from WINGS OF WAR which shifted in slightly. CAPTAIN WIN (E466): From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. JOY COMING (H149): After the race, L Hewitson stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position but had expected CELESTIAL COLOURS to lead the event. He said he was obliged to ride his mount forward in the early stages to cross runners to his inside which resulted in JOY COMING going forward and leading. Trainer K W Lui confirmed the instructions issued.

KA YING CHEER (H369): When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight and the reason he positioned his mount out towards the middle of the track, H Bowman stated that in pre-race discussions with Trainer P C Ng, he had been given the option of racing in this position as a number of winners tonight had won from this position. He said after racing outside the leader CALIFORNIA TOUCH, he allowed KA YING CHEER to shift out on the Home Turn, without having to direct his mount to do so, in accordance with the pre-race discussions that he had with connections. Mr Ng confirmed that Jockey Bowman was given the option of allowing KA YING CHEER to race in this position in the Home Straight. Sent for sampling post-race. RUN RUN TIMING (H403): Near the 600 Metres was bumped by COUNTRY DANCER which was positioned tight to the inside of CHEER FOR SOUTH. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CALIFORNIA TOUCH (J051): Passing the 250 Metres M Chadwick dropped his whip. Sent for sampling post-race. CHAMPION METHOD (H366): No report. IVICTORIAM (J226): On arrival at the Start, the tongue tie applied to IVICTORIAM was refitted. Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between CHEER FOR SOUTH and SILVER SPURS which shifted out. SILVER SPURS (J043): Near the 1000 Metres, when being shifted behind COUNTRY DANCER, commenced to race keenly and was steadied to avoid the heels of COUNTRY DANCER. Then continued to race keenly in the middle stages. SO TREASURE (H351): A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MULTIDARLING (H148): No report. COUNTRY DANCER (H436): Bumped at the start. CHEER FOR SOUTH (H178): Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. GLORY B (H373): Was a late withdrawal acting on veterinary advice after becoming fractious whilst being transported to the course and subsequently being found to be lame in its right front and right hind legs. CAPITAL DELIGHT (H262): From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the 350 Metres became held up behind GOKO WIN and shifted to that runner’s outside to obtain clear running and in doing so made contact with EASON. SUPERB CAPITALIST (H092): Sent for sampling post-race. BRAVE STAR (G268): No report. EASON (G061): Near the 350 Metres was bumped and taken wider by CAPITAL DELIGHT. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, EASON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOKO WIN (H069): Noted to have blood in the nose after the race. BEAUTY INFINITY (H377): Sent for sampling post-race. NOT USUAL STAR (G396): After travelling a short distance bucked and was eased down from the event approaching the 1100 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The racing manners of NOT USUAL STAR were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NOT USUAL STAR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial carrying a raceday saddle. HAPPY FAT CAT (G166): The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in whilst they considered if HAPPY FAT CAT had been afforded a fair start. After taking evidence from Jockey M F Poon, Trainer W K Mo and Starter A Speechley, the Stewards found that as the start was effected HAPPY FAT CAT anticipated the start, lunged forward and made contact with gates. This resulted in HAPPY FAT CAT then sitting back in its barrier and losing significant ground. As the Stewards were of the opinion that HAPPY FAT CAT had been afforded a fair start, weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. The Stewards ruled that the barrier manners of HAPPY FAT CAT were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY FAT CAT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. When questioned, Z Purton stated that after shifting to the rail in the early stages, his intention was to improve towards the inside in the Home Straight. He said STRONGEST BOY did not travel well throughout the event and dipped on a number of occasions. He added that in the Home Straight when placed under pressure STRONGEST BOY responded only fairly, however, was held up for clear running between the 200 Metres and the 100 Metres behind EXCEL WONGCHOY which was giving ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of STRONGEST BOY was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous starts. Before being allowed to race again, STRONGEST BOY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Before being allowed to race again, UNITED ENDEAVORS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SAMARKAND (H070): After the race, C L Chau reported that his instructions were to go forward and endeavour to lead. He stated that when SAMARKAND did not show sufficient pace in the early stages to lead the event, he elected to take a position with cover behind ZOOM BOOM. RED HARE KING (H188): Sent for sampling post-race. SHOW RESPECT (H138): Shifted out at the start and was bumped. Near the 550 Metres went amiss and was retired from the event. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SHOW RESPECT had sustained an injury to the left front leg. Samples were taken from the horse. GIDDY UP (J020): From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 550 Metres was shifted to the outside of SHOW RESPECT when that runner was retired from the event.
