UNITE SPIRIT and LONDON LUCKYSTAR bumped at the start. JIMMU, VOLPINO and DOUBLE TAKE began only fairly. Despite being vigorously ridden along for some distance in the early stages, CROWN AVENUE was slow to muster speed and then travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. CALIFORNIA LEGEND lost its right hind plate in the early stages. Near the 1100 Metres, CROWN AVENUE was shifted out away from the heels of CALIFORNIA LEGEND when awkwardly placed outside that horse which shifted out marginally. Rounding the Home Turn, B Shinn (VOLPINO) dropped his whip. In the early part of the Straight, DOUBLE TAKE lay in under pressure. Passing the 300 Metres, SWEETLY BABY was shifted in away from the heels of CALIFORNIA LEGEND. After initially being awkwardly placed outside the heels of KING’S RACE after the 250 Metres, CALIFORNIA LEGEND was momentarily crowded for room between KING’S RACE and CROWN AVENUE (A Hamelin) which shifted in under pressure approaching the 200 Metres. A Hamelin was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Approaching the 100 Metres, CALIFORNIA LEGEND was shifted out away from the heels of KING’S RACE and then near the 50 Metres was again awkwardly placed behind that horse. Close to the finishing line, DOUBLE TAKE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of CROWN AVENUE and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race. A veterinary inspection of LONDON LUCKYSTAR and SWEETLY BABY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SWEETLY BABY, CROWN AVENUE and EZRA were sent for sampling.

SUPREME PATROL stumbled at the start. TARGET FINDER was inconvenienced by VIVA COUNCIL which shifted out on jumping. From wide barriers, MONEYMORE and STRONG PROMISE were shifted across behind runners shortly after the start. Despite being hard ridden for a considerable distance in the early stages, SKY TREASURE failed to muster speed. Approaching the 800 Metres, MONEYMORE, which was being eased to obtain cover, was steadied away from the heels of TARGET FINDER which shifted out. After the 700 Metres, SUPREME PATROL was left racing wide and without cover. Making the turn near the 700 Metres, TELECOM MISSILE lay out towards the heels of SUPREME PATROL. After this, TELECOM MISSILE continued to lay out and made the turn awkwardly. Also making the turn after the 700 Metres, FOX CHEUNGER lay out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of STRONG PROMISE. Shortly after entering the Straight, STRONG PROMISE went amiss and was eased down. A veterinary inspection of STRONG PROMISE immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained an injury to the left front leg. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, FOX CHEUNGER was shifted out a number of horses to obtain clear running. When questioned, Apprentice C L Chau stated that he was asked to ride VIVA COUNCIL positively in the early stages and obtain the lead on the rail if possible as it is believed that the horse races better when able to race near the rail. He said, despite riding his mount along for some distance in the early stages, VIVA COUNCIL did not show sufficient speed to be able to cross to race on the rail and it was not until after the 700 Metres that VIVA COUNCIL was able to cross REGENCY POET to race outside TREASURE CHEST. He added VIVA COUNCIL came under pressure rounding the Home Turn and then did not quicken for him. He said he placed the horse under heavy pressure at the entrance to the Straight, however, VIVA COUNCIL gave ground noticeably over the latter stages of the race. A veterinary inspection of VIVA COUNCIL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of VIVA COUNCIL, favourite for much of today’s betting, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, VIVA COUNCIL will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of REGENCY POET and MONEYMORE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. TREASURE CHEST and STRATHCLYDE were sent for sampling. Samples were also taken from STRONG PROMISE.

RAINBOW LIGHT stumbled at the start. WINNING VOLATILITY began only fairly and then shifted out towards the heels of HAPPY TANGO which on jumping shifted out and bumped CAPSULE KING. TELECOM PUMA began awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and bumped DEMONS ROCK which shifted out and inconvenienced JOYFUL MOMENTS. This resulted in TELECOM PUMA losing ground. TELECOM PUMA was then ridden along, however, failed to muster speed. JOYFUL MOMENTS was shifted across behind runners from the outside barrier in the early stages. DEMONS ROCK was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Approaching and passing the 800 Metres, DOLLAR REWARD travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover. When questioned, C Schofield stated that GOLD COMET was always off the bridle in the race and was never able to travel comfortably. He said he felt that the tempo of the race in the early stages was quicker than at its previous start and for this reason, despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, GOLD COMET was not able to balance up and travel strongly. He said GOLD COMET then finished off the race one-paced and following the race he recommended to connections that they consider stepping the horse up in distance at its next start to afford it the opportunity to travel better than it did today. A veterinary inspection of GOLD COMET immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of TELECOM PUMA and CAPSULE KING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. GOLD COMET, WAR LORD, GOLDMAN STAR and HAPPY TANGO were sent for sampling.

FORTUNE BUDDY began awkwardly. DAILY CHARM shifted out at the start and bumped DRAGON COMMANDER which resulted in DAILY CHARM losing ground. CIRCUIT NUMBER ONE shifted out at the start and inconvenienced SHINEALOT. From wide barriers, SKY GEM and PROUD SKY were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, SACRED TIMING lost ground when crowded for room after passing the winning post on the first occasion between GENERAL DINO and BULB ELITE which was taken out by EVER STRONG which was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SHINEALOT. In the early stages, EVER STRONG was steadied to obtain cover. Near the 1000 Metres, DRAGON COMMANDER got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHINEALOT. Throughout the race, BULB ELITE travelled wide and without cover and after the 1000 Metres was allowed to improve its position, however, continued to race wide and without cover. After the 1000 Metres, GENERAL DINO was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 600 Metres, DAILY CHAM lay out and bumped the hindquarters of THE FULL BLOOM. Rounding the Home Turn, DAILY CHARM raced tight between THE FULL BLOOM which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BULB ELITE and SKY GEM which shifted out. At the entrance to the Straight, SHINEALOT and EVER STRONG made contact as a result of SHINEALOT shifting out to obtain clear running. This resulted in both horses becoming unbalanced. Passing the 100 Metres, N Callan (GENERAL DINO) dropped his whip. PROUD SKY shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. When questioned, K C Leung (THE FULL BLOOM) stated that, from a wide barrier, he was asked to obtain a position in about midfield with cover if possible. He said THE FULL BLOOM began very well and therefore he allowed it to continue forward as having regard to the manner in which it began he did not believe he would be able to obtain a midfield position without being left racing very wide. He said he anticipated that CIRCUIT NUMBER ONE would cross KEEP WINNING and lead which would allow THE FULL BLOOM to race outside KEEP WINNING, however, when CIRCUIT NUMBER ONE was not able to cross KEEP WINNING, this resulted in THE FULL BLOOM racing wide and without cover until after the 800 Metres at which stage the horse was able to obtain cover behind BULB ELITE. He said THE FULL BLOOM was then very awkwardly placed close to the heels of BULB ELITE rounding the Home Turn as that horse came under heavy pressure. He said this resulted in THE FULL BLOOM being taken back through the field and it was not until at the entrance to the Straight that he was able to shift to the outside of BULB ELITE. He added the manner in which THE FULL BLOOM began today was the principal reason for the horse racing more prominently than had been intended. When THE FULL BLOOM was taken back through the field, SHINEALOT, which was following, was awkwardly placed behind that horse and unable to improve until near the 400 Metres. When questioned, Apprentice C Wong (KEEP WINNING) stated that he was asked to ride his mount positively in the early stages and clear FORTUNE BUDDY which had drawn barrier 1 and then obtain a trailing position behind the leaders if possible. He said in accordance with his instructions he rode KEEP WINNING along in the early stages and was able to cross FORTUNE BUDDY passing the winning post on the first occasion. He said he then took hold of KEEP WINNING with a view to obtaining a trailing position behind CIRCUIT NUMBER ONE, however, when that horse continued to race outside KEEP WINNING, this resulted in KEEP WINNING being required to lead the race. A veterinary inspection of BULB ELITE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. A veterinary inspection of DRAGON COMMANDER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SHINEALOT, TURF BRILLIANT and CIRCUIT NUMBER ONE were sent for sampling.

AUGUST MOON was withdrawn 3.12.20 on by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter PACKING MILES. Before being allowed to race again, AUGUST MOON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. OURGOLDENRULES began very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of VIGOR CHAMP. VIGOR CHAMP consequently became badly unbalanced, stumbled and shifted in abruptly, resulting in OURGOLDENRULES losing ground when crowded onto SIGHT HERO which also became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by OURGOLDENRULES. Shortly after this incident, VECTOR raced in restricted room between SIGHT HERO and EXCELLENT CHARIOT which shifted out and then became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by VECTOR. After being corrected, VIGOR CHAMP, which has lost ground, was ridden along, however, failed to muster speed. From a wide barrier, SOARING TOWER was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Passing the 900 Metres, SIGHT HERO was momentarily awkwardly placed behind VOYAGE STAR. Approaching the 700 Metres, MY ECSTATIC and ALL BEST FRIENDS raced tight. Passing the 300 Metres, SIGHT HERO raced tight outside EXCELLENT CHARIOT as that horse improved into tight running outside VOYAGE STAR. Near the 250 Metres, MONSTER KAKA was shifted to the inside of VOYAGE STAR to obtain clear running. Then passing the 200 Metres, MONSTER KAKA was held up when racing in restricted room between VOYAGE STAR and VECTOR. Passing the 100 Metres, ALL BEST FRIENDS and MY ECSTATIC made contact when racing tight inside SIGHT HERO. Then over the concluding stages, ALL BEST FRIENDS was steadied when racing tight between MY ECSTATIC and VOYAGE STAR which shifted out under pressure. T Piccone (ALL BEST FRIENDS) was placed on notice regarding raising his whip arm above the height of his shoulder. T Piccone was told that should he offend again, further action may be taken. Throughout the race, PACKING MILES travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that EXCELLENT CHARIOT had sustained a small wound to the right front fetlock. A veterinary inspection of VECTOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. EXCELLENT CHARIOT and SOARING TOWER were sent for sampling.

GAMEPLAYER TIMES was withdrawn on 3.12.20 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MISSION TYCOON. Before being allowed to race again, GAMEPLAYER TIMES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AMAZING NEWS and FANTASTIC SHOW were slow to begin. CELESTIAL POWER began only fairly. LUCKY MARYKNOLL shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of E STAR, causing both horses to become unbalanced and LUCKY MARYKNOLL to lose ground. After this, SMOOTHIES was slow to muster speed despite being ridden along. From wide barriers, HAPPY QIJI and SHOUSON were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the 1100 Metres, SMOOTHIES shifted in away from IGNITING and brushed CHICKEN DANCE. At the 950 Metres, CHICKEN DANCE and SMOOTHIES bumped. SMOOTHIES then raced tight outside CHICKEN DANCE which made the turn near the 900 Metres awkwardly. At the entrance to the Straight, MISSION TYCOON became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHICKEN DANCE. Then approaching the 350 Metres, MISSION TYCOON raced tight inside CHICKEN DANCE when improving into restricted room inside that horse. Throughout the race, PRIME MINISTER travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CHICKEN DANCE, A Badel stated that he was asked to have the horse where it was comfortable and it was anticipated that SMOOTHIES, which was drawn outside CHICKEN DANCE, would obtain the lead and that he may be able to obtain a trailing position behind that horse. He said when SMOOTHIES did not show as much early speed as anticipated and had to be ridden along for a considerable distance, he maintained his position inside that horse rather than allowing it to cross CHICKEN DANCE as he did not want to be caught behind SMOOTHIES if the horse gave ground. He added CHICKEN DANCE travelled only fairly in the early and middle stages and then came under pressure rounding the Home Turn to maintain its position. He said he rode CHICKEN DANCE along in the early part of the Straight, however, the horse did not respond to his riding and then passing the 300 Metres commenced to give ground and shortened in its action. He said as he had concerns regarding the action of CHICKEN DANCE, he eased it down over the concluding stages, however, CHICKEN DANCE was already well beaten at this stage. A veterinary inspection of CHICKEN DANCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of CHICKEN DANCE, which finished at the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHICKEN DANCE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of LEAP OF FAITH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. KA YING EXCELLENT and E STAR were sent for sampling.

CHEERFUL DAYS shifted in at the start and inconvenienced MARVELOUS FANS which began only fairly. MAXIMIZE HEART and SUN OF MAKFI bumped at the start. RUN RUN GOOD shifted out at the start and made contact with UNICORNBABY which in turn shifted out and bumped SURE WIN WIN which became unbalanced. After this, from wide barriers, UNICORNBABY and SURE WIN WIN were shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. After travelling a short distance, WINWIN THIRTYTHREE was hampered by MAXIMIZE HEART which was taken in by SUN OF MAKFI which got its head on the side and shifted in away from UNIVERSAL RECORD. Then near the 1350 Metres, SUN OF MAKFI momentarily raced in restricted room between MAXIMIZE HEART and UNIVERSAL RECORD which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the tightening. Passing the 1300 Metres, MARVELOUS FANS was steadied away from the heels of CASIMIRO which shifted out. Near the 1200 Metres, MARVELOUS FANS commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of CASIMIRO. Making the turn near the 900 Metres, MARVELOUS FANS was momentarily crowded for room inside RUN RUN GOOD which was then shifted out to relieve the tightening to MARVELOUS FANS. This resulted in RUN RUN GOOD travelling wide and without cover. BRAVE POWER, which was following MARVELOUS FANS, was steadied way from the heels of that horse in consequence when racing right inside UNICORNBABY which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of CHEERFUL DAYS which for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover. Also making the turn near the 900 Metres, SUN OF MAKFI commenced to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SEVENTH SEA when racing tight outside WINWIN THIRTYTHREE which made the turn awkwardly. After the 900 Metres, MARVELOUS FANS was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 600 Metres, WINWIN THIRTYTHREE got its head up when being checked away from the heels of MAXIMIZE HEART. Passing the 400 Metres, SURE WIN WIN raced tight outside UNICORNBABY which shifted to the outside of CHEERFUL DAYS. Approaching and passing the 300 Metres, SUN OF MAKFI was shifted out a number of horses to obtain clear running and then passing the 200 Metres was awkwardly placed behind SURE WIN WIN when being shifted to the outside of that horse. Passing the 250 Metres, WINWIN THIRTYTHREE was held up for clear running behind DIAMOND RHYME. Then passing the 200 Metres, WINWIN THIRTYTHREE improved into running which was not fully available between DIAMOND RHYME and MARVELOUS FANS, resulting in WINWIN THIRTYTHREE continuing to be badly held up for running and then getting its head up when checked when unable to improve between those horses. WINWIN THIRTYTHREE remained held up for clear running and after obtaining a tight run inside MARVELOUS FANS approaching the 100 Metres was then crowded for room inside that horse which, after shifting in of its own accord, was then taken in by SEVENTH SEA which lay in away from UNICORNBABY despite the efforts of its rider. In this incident, DIAMOND RYHME became unbalanced when bumped by WINWIN THIRTYTHREE. Because of these incident, WINWIN THIRTYTHREE was not able to be properly tested over the latter stages of the race. FIRST RESPONDER began awkwardly. DANCING FIGHTER began awkwardly and then was bumped by LITTLE BIRD which shifted out. DANCING FIGHTER then raced in restricted room inside JOYFUL FORTUNE for a short distance. NORTHERN SUPERSTAR shifted out at the start and was steadied away from the heels of METRO WARRIOR which shifted in on jumping. GOOD LUCK CHARM got it head up on jumping, began awkwardly and then was bumped by GOOD BEAUTY which shifted out. After the 600 Metres, CRUISING got its head on the side and lay in. Near the 450 Metres, DANCING FIGHTER shifted out and bumped JOYFUL FORTUNE. After this, DANCING FIGHTER raced greenly and shifted ground on a number of occasions. Passing the 100 Metres, METRO WARRIOR raced tight outside CRUISING. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of JOYFUL FORTUNE, Apprentice C L Chau stated that he was asked to ride the horse where it was comfortable in the early stages and not to make too much use of it to obtain a forward position. He said JOYFUL FORTUNE began well and he was able to obtain a prominent position without having to make any use of the horse. He said passing the 600 Metres he niggled at JOYFUL FORTUNE to ensure that it maintained its position outside DANCING FIGHTER which was looking to improve forward of JOYFUL FORTUNE. He said after the 600 Metres JOYFUL FORTUNE was travelling well and was able to establish a small margin over DANCING FIGHTER, however, then came under heavy pressure and he had to ride the horse aggressively after the 400 Metres. He said JOYFUL FORTUNE gave him a limited response before coming under heavy pressure passing the 300 Metres. He added over the concluding stages JOYFUL FORTUNE was most disappointing in the manner in which it gave ground. He said after the race he was not able to identify any reason for the disappointing performance of JOYFUL FORTUNE. Mr D J Hall, the trainer of JOYFUL FORTUNE, confirmed the instructions given to Apprentice Chau and was not able to offer any explanation for the horse’s disappointing performance. He said the horse had trained on well since its last start and a forward showing was expected today. He said the only reason he could find for the horse’s failure to finish off the race was the fact that it may not have handled the pressure of having to race amongst horses. A veterinary inspection of JOYFUL FORTUNE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of JOYFUL FORTUNE, favourite for today’s race and which finished at the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL FORTUNE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of NORTHERN SUPERSTAR, DANCING FIGHTER and GOOD LUCK CHARM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. JOYFUL FORTUNE, PING HAI BRAVO and VALIANT DREAM were sent for sampling.

06/12/2020  Class 3  Shatin  All Weather Track    1650m   Going: GOOD  (9.65)    Rating: 080-060

SKYEY SUPREME, which was leaning on the inside of its barrier, began only fairly and then lost ground when crowded for room between RIGHT CHOICE which shifted out after being bumped by PARTY EVERYDAY and PING HAI TREASURE which shifted out. BRIGHT KID shifted out at the start and bumped WISDOM PATCH. DEAL MAKER stumbled on jumping. From a wide barrier, THE HULK was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages. BRIGHT KID was also steadied to obtain cover shortly after the start. Approaching the 600 Metres, WISDOM PATCH raced tight outside CLEAR CHOICE when taken wider by that horse which shifted to the outside of RIGHT CHOICE. After this, RIGHT CHOICE and CLEAR CHOICE raced tight. Approaching the 100 Metres, CLEAR CHOICE was inconvenienced by SKYEY SUPREME which shifted out away from the heels of PARTY EVERYDAY which hung out under pressure. Over the concluding stages, SKYEY SUPREME continued to be awkwardly placed outside the heels of PARTY EVERYDAY and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race. Throughout the race, WORLD FAMOUS and PARTY EVERYDAY travelled wide and without cover. The performance of WORLD FAMOUS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WORLD FAMOUS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of WORLD FAMOUS immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. K C Leung (TURIN REDSTAR) was warned against the practice of striking his mount in the forehand manner forward of the saddle. After the race, K Teetan (PARTY EVERYDAY) reported that his mount hung out throughout the race. When questioned, Apprentice C L Chau stated that the manner in which he was to ride TOUCH OF LUCK was dependent on how TURIN REDSTAR was ridden in the early stages. He said he was told that if TOUCH OF LUCK began well and was able to cross TURIN REDSTAR, then he should do so, however, if the horse was not able to do so without having to be vigorously ridden along, he should either sit outside TURIN REDSTAR or obtain a trailing position behind that horse. He said TOUCH OF LUCK did not begin as well as TURIN REDSTAR and that horse held an advantage over his mount in the early stages. He said he commenced to shift across to race outside TURIN REDSTAR shortly after the start and passing the winning post on the first occasion he elected to steady his mount and obtain a trailing position behind that horse as TURIN REDSTAR was racing wide. He said he felt that had he remained racing to the outside of TURIN REDSTAR, TOUCH OF LUCK may have been required to cover unnecessary ground and therefore he believed that the best option was to obtain a trailing position behind TURIN REDSTAR and follow that horse. He added after shifting across behind TURIN REDSTAR after passing the winning post on the first occasion, he then had to ride his mount along as TOUCH OF LUCK was not showing as much early speed as he anticipated. He said these circumstances resulted in TOUCH OF LUCK racing back in the field today. Mr D J Whyte, trainer of TOUCH OF LUCK, confirmed the instructions given to Apprentice Chau. He said in the circumstances he would have preferred for TOUCH OF LUCK to maintain its position outside TURIN REDSTAR rather than being steadied behind that horse as this resulted in TOUCH OF LUCK getting too far out of its ground. A veterinary inspection of TOUCH OF LUCK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of RIGHT CHOICE and DEAL MAKER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. TURIN REDSTAR and PARTY EVERYDAY were sent for sampling.
