22/11/2020  Class 4  Shatin  Turf  B+2  2000m   Going: GOOD  (2.72)   Rating: 060-040  

DYNAMIC EAGLE and FULL POWER bumped at the start. SMART COUSIN began awkwardly. BULLISH GLORY was slow to begin and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From a wide barrier, CHEERFUL STAR was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 1700 Metres, MAGNETISM shifted in and made contact with DYNAMIC EAGLE. KING’S RACE travelled wide and without cover until near the 1300 Metres. Passing the 1100 Metres, MAGNETISM raced tight outside SMART COUSIN which improved to the outside of WEALTHY EMPLOYEE. MAGNETISM was then left racing wide and without cover passing the 900 Metres. At the entrance to the Straight, DYNAMIC EAGLE shifted out and brushed the hindquarters of MAGNETISM. After this, DYNAMIC EAGLE and MAGNETISM raced tight for some distance. KUNGFUMASTER PANDA was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 400 Metres was checked away from the heels of EXALTATION which was commencing to give ground. SKY GEM lay in under pressure in the early part of the Straight and passing the 300 Metres was awkwardly placed outside the heels of KING’S RACE. Approaching the 250 Metres, DYNAMIC EAGLE lay out away from KUNGFUMASTER PANDA which shifted out from behind ABOVE to obtain clear running. The performance of WEALTHY EMPLOYEE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WEALTHY EMPLOYEE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, J Moreira stated that in accordance with his instructions he rode EXALTATION positively in the early stages from the wide barrier to take up a forward position. He said due to the circumstances of the race EXALTATION was left racing wide and without cover from the 1300 Metres. He said although EXALTATION was required to travel wide and without cover, nonetheless the horse was very disappointing in that it did not quicken when asked and raced "flat”. A veterinary inspection of EXALTATION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FULL POWER and FAMILY LEADER were sent for sampling.

CLASSIC POSH shifted out at the start, resulting in RUNNING GUY being hampered and CLASSIC POSH becoming unbalanced. FIRE BALL began very awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and bumped CHARITY GRACE. PICHU began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of EVERYONE’S DELIGHT. After this, from a wide barrier, PICHU was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. SCENIC SWEETIE shifted in at the start and bumped STAY CHILL. From a wide barrier, GOLDEN LINK was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, PICHU commenced to race keenly and was awkwardly placed behind CHARITY GRACE. After the 900 Metres, IMPECCABLE FELLOW was left racing wide and without cover. Making the turn after the 900 Metres, CHARITY GRACE got its head on the side and lay out. PICHU, which was following CHARITY GRACE and continuing to travel keenly, got its head up and shifted out when steadied. After the 600 Metres, PICHU got its head on the side and lay out. STAY CHILL had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Approaching the 300 Metres, CHARITY GRACE and STAY CHILL bumped. Near the 150 Metres, GOLDEN LINK was momentarily crowded for room inside CHARITY GRACE (J Moreira) which shifted in away from the heels of HARD PROMISE as that horse was giving ground. J Moreira was advised to exercise due care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. For the majority of the race, GALLANT CROWN travelled wide and without cover. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of J Moreira (CHARITY GRACE), 5th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race where circumstances permit. After the race, C Schofield reported that HARD PROMISE gave ground quickly in the early part of the Straight and then did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of HARD PROMISE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN LINK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. HARMONY N BLESSED and EVERYONE’S DELIGHT were sent for sampling.

HARMONY VICTORY was very slow to begin. Before being allowed to race again, HARMONY VICTORY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. From the outside barrier, CHAMPION’S WAY was steadied in the early stages and near the 1400 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 1500 Metres, HARMONY VICTORY got its head on the side and lay in. GOLDEN SIXTY and KA YING STAR were sent for sampling.

SPEED FAY FAY began very awkwardly and bumped the inside of its gate, resulting in the horse being slow to begin. WINWIN THIRTYTHREE began only fairly and then was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. FORTUNE MASTER shifted in at the start and bumped HALL OF CHAMP. From a wide barrier, BIG LUCK CHAMP was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. After travelling a short distance, HALL OF CHAMP was steadied away from the heels of FORTUNE MASTER which shifted in away from MORE THAN ENOUGH. Approaching the 1200 Metres, TRIPLE TRIPLE was crowded for room between CHAIRMAN LO and MORE THAN ENOUGH (N Callan) which was directed out to avoid causing tightening to SUPER KIN. MORE THAN ENOUGH then continued to shift out, resulting in TRIPLE TRIPLE continuing to be awkwardly placed behind that horse passing the 1200 Metres and losing ground. N Callan was advised to make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting unnecessary ground in similar circumstances. Passing the 1100 Metres, MORE THEN ENOUGH was bumped by CHAIRMAN LO which shifted in abruptly after racing tight inside FORZA ANGEL (H N Wong) which shifted in marginally. H N Wong was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. Near the 1050 Metres, FORTUNE MASTER was momentarily crowded for room inside RED MAJESTY which was directed in by TRIPLE TRIPLE which continued to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of MORE THAN ENOUGH. Near the 950 Metres, HALL OF CHAMP was crowded for room inside FORTUNE MASTER which got its head on the side and shifted in away from RED MAJESTY. CHAIRMAN LO made the Home Turn awkwardly. WONDER EXPRESS had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. FORTUNE MASTER was held up for clear running from approaching the 300 Metres until near the 250 Metres at which stage the horse was shifted out away from the heels of SUPER TEN which shifted out and then became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by WONDER EXPRESS which was directed out by SUPER KIN. Passing the 300 Metres, SUPER KIN was checked when disappointed for running between MORE THAN ENOUGH and CHAIRMAN LO which shifted out marginally when commencing to give ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that SUPER KIN had not established running between CHAIRMAN LO and MORE THAN ENOUGH, no further action was taken. HALL OF CHAMP, which was following SUPER KIN and held up for clear running, was directed to the inside of that horse in consequence. Also passing the 300 Metres, GALACTIC was directed out away from the heels of SPEED FAY FAY (C Schofield) which shifted out to obtain clear running. C Schofield was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Near the 150 Metres, SPEED FAY FAY was directed out away from the heels of TRIPLE TRIPLE (Z Purton) which shifted out under pressure. In this incident, Z Purton changed his whip over into his left hand. Z Purton was advised to exercise due care in similar circumstances. Apprentice C L Chau (HALL OF CHAMP) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that for some distance after the 150 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out under pressure which resulted in FORTUNE MASTER being unnecessarily hampered when crowded for room outside HALL OF CHAMP over the concluding stages. Apprentice Chau was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 9 December 2020 and to expire on Monday, 14 December 2020 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). Near the 75 Metres, WONDER EXPRESS raced in restricted room between FORTUNE MASTER and MORE THAN ENOUGH which shifted out away from HALL OF CHAMP as that horse shifted out under pressure. Throughout the race, GALACTIC travelled wide and without cover and for the majority of the race SUPER TEN travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of GALACTIC, BIG LUCK CHAMP and SUPER TEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. HALL OF CHAMP and SPEED FAY FAY were sent for sampling.

RATTAN was slow to begin. From the outside barriers, FAT TURTLE and WISHFUL THINKER were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the 900 Metres, BIG PARTY lay in and brushed the hindquarters of COMPUTER PATCH. Making the turn near the 900 Metres, VOYAGE WARRIOR lost ground when crowded for room between HOT KING PRAWN and STRONGER which got its head on the side, made the turn awkwardly and shifted out towards the heels of BIG PARTY. VOYAGE WARRIOR had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200 Metres and then after the 100 Metres raced tight outside the heels of COMPUTER PATCH. STRONGER had some difficulty obtaining clear running near the 150 Metres. Close to the finishing line, RATTAN shifted in under pressure, requiring its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount. Throughout the race, HOT KING PRAWN travelled wide and without cover. After the race, M Chadwick (BIG TIME BABY) reported that at its first up run this season, the horse’s condition gave out in the Straight which resulted in it giving ground over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of BIG TIME BABY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of WISHFUL THINKER immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, WISHFUL THINKER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HOT KING PRAWN and COMPUTER PATCH were sent for sampling.

RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE was slow to begin. TIANCHI MONSTER shifted out at the start and bumped ENJOYING. From wide barriers, GOLDEN SPECTRUM, PACKING WALTHAM and WINNING DELIGHT were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After travelling a short distance, ELUSIVE STATE was bumped by ENJOYING which shifted out. After the 1500 Metres, TIANCHI MONSTER shifted out towards the heels of ENJOYING. Then near the 1400 Metres, TIANCHI MONSTER was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ENJOYING which shifted in marginally when travelling keenly. After the 1400 Metres, ENRICHMENT was left racing wide and without cover. RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE lost its right hind plate at the 1350 Metres. Approaching the 800 Metres, ELITE PATCH momentarily raced tight inside AMAZING BEATS which lay in. Near the 550 Metres, TIANCHI MONSTER was steadied away from the heels of ELITE PATCH. ENJOYING made the Home Turn awkwardly. At the entrance to the Straight, GOLDEN SPECTRUM was held up when being directed to the outside of ELUSIVE STATE to obtain clear running. Passing the 400 Metres, ELITE PATCH and ELUSIVE STATE bumped as ELITE PATCH was being shifted out in an endeavour to obtain clear running. This resulted in both horses becoming unbalanced. Passing the 300 Metres, ELUSIVE STATE momentarily raced in restricted room between ELITE PATCH and ENRICHMENT which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the crowding to ELUSIVE STATE. After obtaining tight running between ENJOYING and RELIABLE TEAM after the 200 Metres, LAKESHORE EAGLE was crowded for room between those horses as a result of RELIABLE TEAM shifting out and becoming unbalanced. LAKESHORE EAGLE then continued to race tight inside ENJOYING which shifted in marginally, resulting in RELIABLE TEAM being crowded for room after the 100 Metres when racing tight to the outside of TIANCHI MONSTER which became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by RELIABLE TEAM. ELITE PATCH had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 100 Metres. Apprentice C Wong (RELIABLE TEAM) reported that after working to cross ELITE PATCH in the early stages, RELIABLE TEAM commenced to travel keenly after the 1300 Metres in the lead. He said he was specifically instructed not to restrain the horse too heavily as at its last start the horse had got its head up on a number of occasions when steadied. After the race, M Chadwick (RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE) reported that after initially responding well to his riding in the early part of the Straight, RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE commenced to finish off the race well, however, over the final 100 Metres gave ground and did not close off. A veterinary inspection of RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of ENJOYING immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ENJOYING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WINNING DELIGHT and ENJOYING were sent for sampling.

DANCES WITH DRAGON was crowded for room on jumping between FURORE and TIME WARP which shifted out. COLUMBUS COUNTY and HO HO KHAN were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. PLAYA DEL PUENTE shifted out at the start and bumped EXULTANT. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, COLUMBUS COUNTY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SINGAPORE SLING when being steadied to obtain cover behind that horse. COLUMBUS COUNTY then continued to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of SINGAPORE SLING which shifted out when being steadied to obtain cover behind CHEFANO. Passing the 600 Metres, DANCES WITH DRAGON was awkwardly placed behind FURORE. Passing the 500 Metres, PLAYA DEL PUENTE was inconvenienced by DANCES WITH DRAGON which was crowded for room outside FURORE (J Moreira) which shifted to the outside of EXULTANT to obtain clear running. J Moreira was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. Passing the 300 Metres, COLUMBUS COUNTY was directed to the outside of EXULTANT to obtain clear running. A veterinary inspection of TIME WARP immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. FURORE and EXULTANT were sent for sampling.

ROMAN TURBO and TRANSCENDENT bumped at the start. SAVAQUIN and TORNADO TWIST made contact on jumping. SMART FOLKS was crowded for room on jumping between WINNING FOR ALL and MIGHTY VALOR, both of which shifted ground. After this, from a wide barrier, WINNING FOR ALL was shifted across behind runners. TORNADO TWIST was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Passing the 1000 Metres, BIZ POWER was steadied away from the heels of SMART FOLKS (T Piccone) which shifted in when not properly clear. T Piccone was reprimanded. BIZ POWER was left racing very wide and without cover after the 900 Metres. Approaching the 800 Metres, TRANSCENDENT raced tight inside SUPER FOOTBALL which lay in when awkwardly placed behind ROMAN TURBO. Making the turn near the 750 Metres, UNIVERSAL HERO was awkwardly placed inside the heels of WINNING FOR ALL when racing in restricted room between that horse and SUPER FOOTBALL which shifted out when continuing to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of ROMAN TURBO. After this, UNIVERSAL HERO lay out and made the Home Turn awkwardly. KA YING MASTER was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight. Passing the 400 Metres, SAVAQUIN raced tight outside SUPER FOOTBALL which shifted to the outside of BIZ POWER. After this, SAVAQUIN lay out under pressure, resulting in TORNADO TWIST being awkwardly placed behind that horse for some distance after the 300 Metres. After the race, A Hamelin explained that, from the outside barrier, he was instructed to obtain a forward position on DUBLIN STAR. He said after shifting across to race outside RACING FIGHTER near the 900 Metres, he believed that he would have had to make too much use of DUBLIN STAR to cross that horse as RACING FIGHTER was ridden very positively in the early stages to obtain a forward position. He said he was concerned that if he had attempted to improve forward of RACING FIGHTER, that horse would have continued with him which would have resulted in too much use having to be made of DUBLIN STAR which would not have allowed the horse to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of SMART FOLKS, TRANSCENDENT, BIZ POWER and UNIVERSAL HERO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. RACING FIGHTER and MIGHTY VALOR were sent for sampling.

As the start was effected, EUQALETTA BLITZ reared abruptly and lost a significant amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, EQUALETTA BLITZ will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. TELECOM FIGHTERS and SHOUSON bumped at the start. After travelling a short distance, PRINCE OF FROG shifted in and inconvenienced CIRCUIT SIX. From wide barriers, PRESIDENT’S CHOICE and BRIGHT KID were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. LUCKY PATCH raced greenly in the early stages and shifted ground on a number of occasions. Near the 1250 Metres, both SHOUSON and CIRCUIT SIX travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover. Passing the 1100 Metres, TELECOM CHEETAH was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRINCE OF FROG. Passing the 1000 Metres, CIRCUIT SIX got its head up and shifted out away from the heels of SHOUSON when awkwardly placed behind that horse and travelling keenly. Near the 900 Metres, LUCKY PATCH was left racing wide and without cover. Rounding the Home Turn, EVERYONE’S JOY was eased down. A veterinary inspection of EVERYONE’S JOY immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. N Callan (HEZA BEAUTY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 450 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of PRESIDENT’S CHOICE, causing that horse to be crowded for room and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. N Callan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 16 December 2020 and to expire on Monday, 21 December 2020 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Callan’s good race riding record. At the 350 Metres, TELECOM FIGHTERS was awkwardly placed behind TAKING AIM and soon after was shifted to the inside of that horse to obtain clear running. Approaching the 250 Metres, THE HULK made contact with the hindquarters of TELECOM FIGHTERS when improving into tight running between that horse and PRINCE OF FROG which was tiring. After the 50 Metres, LUCKY PATCH was inconvenienced when awkwardly placed between HEZA BEAUTY which lay in before being corrected and BEAUTY SMILE which lay out under pressure. Because of this, LUCKY PATCH was not able to be fully tested over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of CIRCUIT SIX, TAKING AIM and TELECOM CHEETAH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. HEZA BEAUTY and BEAUTY SMILE were sent for sampling.

DUKE WAI began only fairly and then was crowded for room between BEAUTY APPLAUSE and SAUL’S SPECIAL, both of which shifted ground. GUNNISON shifted out abruptly at the start, resulting in HIGHLY PROACTIVE (V Borges) being hampered and taken wider. After this, GUNNISON was steadied and shifted across behind runners. V Borges stated that it was intended for HIGHLY PROACTIVE to be ridden in a forward position, however, after being hampered on jumping, this resulted in HIGHLY PROACTIVE not being able to show the anticipated early speed. He said as there were a considerable number of horses which were expected to obtain a prominent position, he felt that too much use would have to be made of HIGHLY PROACTIVE to obtain a forward position and therefore he elected to shift his mount across and obtain a position in about midfield with cover. Making the turn near the 900 Metres, CALIFORNIA RAD got its head on the side, lay in and bumped BEAUTY AMIGO. Near the 750 Metres, SHINING ACE shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SAUL’S SPECIAL. Passing the 750 Metres, WINNING METHOD commenced to travel very keenly and shifted out away from the heels of ALL IN MIND, resulting in GUNNISON being hampered and taken wider. After the 700 Metres, VICTORIAM was left racing wide and without cover. After the 500 Metres, SAUL’S SPECIAL was awkwardly placed inside the heels of BEAUTY AMIGO which came under pressure. Passing the 400 Metres, SAUL’S SPECIAL was steadied after racing in restricted room between BEAUTY AMIGO which was giving ground and ALL IN MIND which, when improving to the outside of SUNNY BOY, shifted out when awkwardly placed behind that horse. Passing the 350 Metres, ALL IN MIND was shifted to the inside of SUNNY BOY after being disappointed for running between that horse and VICTORIAM. Passing the 300 Metres, DUKE WAI was directed to the outside of CALIFORNIA RAD to obtain clear running. Passing the 150 Metres, WINNING METHOD was checked when improving into tight running inside CALIFORNIA RAD (M Chadwick) which shifted in after being awkwardly placed inside DUKE WAI before being directed out to relieve the crowding to WINNING METHOD. M Chadwick was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Passing the 100 Metres, SUNNY BOY was shifted out away from ALL IN MIND after racing tight outside that horse. A veterinary inspection of VICTORIAM, CALIFORNIA RAD and BEAUTY AMIGO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. WINNING DREAMER and DUKE WAI were sent for sampling.
