GOOD RUNNERS WAY shifted in at the start and bumped ART OF RAW and then from the outside barrier was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. After travelling a short distance, ENORMOUS HONOUR and LUCKY SHINY DAY bumped. After the 1300 Metres, SPINNING DANCER was left racing wide and without cover and then in the Straight gave ground. Before being allowed to race again, SPINNING DANCER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Approaching the 1000 Metres, ELECTRIC LIGHTNING commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of SAVVY SEVEN. FINE WITH ME, which was following, was checked away from the heels of ELECTRIC LIGHTNING in consequence and shifted out abruptly, inconveniencing GOOD RUNNERS WAY. LITTLE ISLAND began only fairly and then was inconvenienced by MISTER MONTE which began awkwardly and shifted out. SUPERIOR BOY shifted out at the start and bumped FAITHFUL TRINITY. FAITHFUL TRINITY then got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied to obtain cover from a wide barrier. LOVE CHUNGHWA and DR RACE were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Near the 1600 Metres, FAITHFUL TRINITY again got its head up when being steadied and very awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPERIOR BOY. After the 1300 Metres, SUPERIOR BOY was left racing wide and without cover and then in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of SUPERIOR BOY immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SUPERIOR BOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being awkwardly placed behind SUPERIOR BOY at the entrance to the Straight, when being shifted to the outside of that horse in an attempt to obtain clear running, SALTO OLIMPICO was then steadied passing the 300 Metres when disappointed for running between SUPERIOR BOY which shifted out slightly and GOLDEN KID which shifted in. Passing the 200 Metres, WINNING CONTROLLER was awkwardly placed inside the heels of CURLING LUXURY which shifted in marginally. Mr D J Hall, the trainer of SALTO OLIMPICO, explained that as the horse was dropping back in distance and was drawn the outside barrier in a race which he anticipated would be run at a good tempo, he instructed K C Leung to steady the horse in the early stages and shift it across behind runners to obtain cover. When questioned regarding his riding of DR RACE in the Straight, R Bayliss stated that after balancing up his mount in the early part of the Straight, he immediately placed it under heavy pressure hands and heels. He said although the leaders were some way in advance of DR RACE, he was reluctant to use the whip on the horse at an early stage in the Straight as he was unsure of where the runs would develop for DR RACE to be able to finish off its race without losing momentum. He said he continued to ride DR RACE vigorously hands and heels until approaching the 50 Metres at which time he used the whip on the horse which he continued to do until the end of the race. R Bayliss was advised that his explanation would be reported, however, he was told to ensure that he places his mounts under appropriate pressure at the earliest available opportunity as in this incident it was the view of the Stewards that, given the distance DR RACE raced from the heels of horses in front, it was sufficient for him to be able to use the whip on the horse at an earlier stage. He was further told to ensure that he rides his mounts out in such a manner so as to leave no room for query. When questioned regarding the performance of MISTER MONTE, Z Purton stated that after being able to obtain a good run throughout the race, MISTER MONTE came under pressure rounding the Home Turn and then did not finish off the race. He said whilst MISTER MONTE was momentarily crowded for room near the 100 Metres inside WINNING CONTROLLER, the horse was well beaten at this stage and the crowding did not have any bearing on the horse’s finishing position. A veterinary inspection of MISTER MONTE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of FAITHFUL TRINITY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ROYAL RACER and RULETHEROOST were sent for sampling.

From wide barriers, EVERBRAVE and GENERAL IRON were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Approaching the 100 Metres, ALCAZAR shifted in and inconvenienced IRON KING. Throughout the race, HAPPY GOOD GUYS travelled wide and without cover. He said LIGHTNING STEED travelled well and he was able to shift to the outside of YOUNG EMPIRE rounding the Home Turn to make his run. He said however LIGHTNING STEED did not quicken as he thought it would in the early part of the Straight and then was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to run on over the latter stages of the race. A veterinary inspection of LIGHTNING STEED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of IRON KING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FRUSTRATED and TRAVEL DATUK were sent for sampling. <28/3/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that YOUNG EMPIRE was lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. JOLLY GENE was withdrawn on 26.3.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind). Before being allowed to race again, JOLLY GENE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAPPY SEBRING was very slow to begin. Having regard to HAPPY SEBRING’s prior history of being slow to begin, the Stewards ruled that it must barrier trial satisfactorily before being permitted to race again. Shortly after the start, KUNGFUMASTER PANDA and CLASSIC BEAUTY bumped. From a wide barrier, CHEERFUL STAR was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Passing the 1800 Metres, CLASSIC BEAUTY was left racing very wide and was allowed to improve its position to race closer to the rail after passing the winning post on the first occasion. Also passing the 1800 Metres, HAPPY DRAGON got its head up when awkwardly placed behind TASHIDELEK. After the 700 Metres, HEAVENLY THOUGHT was left racing wide and without cover. At the 450 Metres, ROCKETEER was steadied when disappointed for running between GIANT TURTLE and HELENE CHARISMA which shifted to the outside of HAPPY DRAGON. Near the 150 Metres, HAPPY SEBRING raced tight inside TASHIDELEK. When questioned, C Y Ho stated that it was anticipated that HAPPY SEBRING would be positioned back in the field and he was asked to attempt to improve his position from the 1000 Metres in order to obtain a closer position so that HAPPY SEBRING did not have too much to do in the latter stages of the race. He said HAPPY SEBRING was very slow to begin which resulted in the horse racing at the rear of the field. He said whilst the race was being run at a good tempo in the early stages, HAPPY SEBRING had been able to conserve energy by being positioned at the rear of the field. He said near the 1000 Metres the pace of the race commenced to steady and given his instructions, he felt that this was an opportune time to allow HAPPY SEBRING to improve its position and therefore he shifted HAPPY SEBRING out after the 1000 Metres accordingly and improved around the field to race outside the lead passing the 700 Metres. When questioned, J Moreira (VIGOR FAME) stated that after having to ride his mount along from a wide barrier to obtain the lead, VIGOR FAME then travelled keenly in the early stages. He said he tried to have the horse settled after the 1800 Metres, however, VIGOR FAME was racing keenly at this time and the horse would not relax as he had hoped. He said approaching the winning post on the first occasion CLASSIC BEAUTY was ridden along to improve its position forward of GIANT TURTLE to race outside VIGOR FAME. He said although CLASSIC BEAUTY was then steadied by its rider to sit off VIGOR FAME, VIGOR FAME commenced to travel more keenly as a result of CLASSIC BEAUTY initially improving to its outside. He said it was not until near the 1000 Metres that he was able to get VIGOR FAME to settle better and he had hoped to be able to set a slower tempo. He said however HAPPY SEBRING improved its position approaching the 700 Metres to race outside VIGOR FAME and he then had to ride his mount along to maintain his position inside that horse. He added because of these factors VIGOR FAME was then not able to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of VIGOR FAME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of GIANT TURTLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. HELENE CHARISMA and TASHIDELEK were sent for sampling.

He said he balanced up the horse in the early part of the Straight and then placed it under pressure near the 300 Metres. He said BREEDERS’ STAR was finishing off the race as best as it was able and therefore he used the whip only sparingly on the horse. M Chadwick was advised that his explanation would be reported, however, he must ensure that he tests his mounts in such a manner so that they can finish off the race as best as they are able. A veterinary inspection of BREEDERS’ STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SAUL’S SPECIAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the 300 Metres, AMAZING CHOCOLATE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY GIRL when being shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running. H N Wong (THUNDER STOMP) stated that after CASA DE FORCA improved its position to be racing outside THUNDER STOMP approaching and passing the winning post on the first occasion, he was able to maintain his position after the 1300 Metres to race on the rail inside that horse. He said THUNDER STOMP then commenced to travel very keenly after the 1200 Metres and, despite his efforts, would not relax. He said this resulted in the race being run at a faster tempo than had been anticipated and because of this THUNDER STOMP was then not able to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of THUNDER STOMP immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUMSTREETSUMWHERE, M Harley stated that he was able to obtain a good position in the early and middle stages when the race was run at a good tempo. He said having regard to the manner in which SUMSTREETSUMWHERE travelled, he expected the horse to quicken well after the 400 Metres, however, it came off the bridle rounding the Home Turn. He said he shifted SUMSTREETSUMWHERE to the inside of THUNDER STOMP after the 300 Metres, however, the horse was not travelling well enough to improve inside that horse prior to GOOD BEAUTY improving to be racing to the inside of SUMSTREETSUMWHERE. He said although SUMSTREETSUMWHERE was disappointed for this run, the horse was not travelling strongly at this time and after being shifted to the outside of THUNDER STOMP prior to the 200 Metres, SUMSTREETSUMWHERE was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened over the latter stages. The Stewards will interview Trainer L Ho regarding the disappointing performance of SUMSTREETSUMWHERE prior to the Sha Tin racemeeting on 31 March 2019. A veterinary inspection of SUMSTREETSUMWHERE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. The performance of SUMSTREETSUMWHERE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUMSTREETSUMWHERE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY GIRL and AMAZING CHOCOLATE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ARCADA, RACING LUCK and LAST KINGDOM were sent for sampling. <31/3/2019 27 March 2019 Happy Valley Racemeeting – Race 8 (537)>The Stewards today interviewed Trainer L Ho regarding the disappointing performance of SUMSTREETSUMWHERE. Mr Ho stated that SUMSTREETSUMWHERE had pleased him in its work since its last start success and he felt that the horse would again perform well, particularly given that the horse had again drawn an inside barrier. He said the stable assistant attending SUMSTREETSUMWHERE had reported that the horse made some minor breathing noises after the race and as SUMSTREETSUMWHERE was not able to be scoped due to being fractious, he was not in a position to say whether the horse may have had some internal issues which may have impacted on its performance. He added apart from this matter, the only other reason he could offer for the horse’s disappointing performance was the fact that it had risen significantly in the weights. As previously reported, SUMSTREETSUMWHERE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
