TURTLE AGAIN (H083): From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. SUNNY BABY (E166): No report. YEE CHEONG WARRIOR (E025): Jumped only fairly. When questioned regarding his riding from the 700 Metres, K Teetan stated that after improving to follow ARTHUR’S KINGDOM, he observed both GO GO GO and HAPPY HERO to commence a forward move. He said as his instructions included that YEE CHEONG WARRIOR is one-paced and likes to obtain clear running out wide, he elected to shift out to follow those runners into the event. He added as he did so ARTHUR’S KINGDOM improved, however, YEE CHEONG WARRIOR responded only fairly to his riding and finished the race off in a one-paced manner. Trainer D J Hall confirmed the advice given to Jockey Teetan that YEE CHEONG WARRIOR prefers to race with clear racing room to the outside of the field in the Home Straight. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on YEE CHEONG WARRIOR at the request of Mr Hall. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, YEE CHEONG WARRIOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CLASSIC ARCHI (G295): After the race, H Bentley reported that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the event, lay in in the Home Straight and raced in a disappointing manner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. DIAMOND WINNER (H285): Slow to begin and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. GREEN LASER (E409): Was found to have lost its left front hoof cast, which was part of its approved plating, shortly before being presented on course to race. As the hoof cast could not be reset prior to the running of the event, GREEN LASER was withdrawn by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice . Before being allowed to race again, GREEN LASER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

He said today, in his opinion, KEEFY was advantaged by carrying a light weight at 119 lbs and also racing outside the lead in a race that was run outside of standard time throughout the early and middle stages. Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind STELLAR EXPRESS. When questioned regarding his riding and the reason he did not shift to the inside of STELLAR EXPRESS in the early part of the Home Straight sooner, H Bentley stated that when following STELLAR EXPRESS, he was of the opinion that runner was travelling very well as Jockey H Bowman had not asked his mount for an effort. He said when H Bowman commenced to ride STELLAR EXPRESS along and the horse did not quicken as he had anticipated, he then shifted to the inside of STELLAR EXPRESS approaching the 300 Metres to obtain clear running. The Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Bentley, having regard to his explanation, were reasonable in the circumstances. Sent for sampling post-race. He said between the 200 Metres and the 100 Metres CHANCHENG GLORY then shifted in slightly and as a result he was again obliged to stop riding and correct his mount near the 100 Metres. He added that over the concluding stages when riding his mount out his left foot was dislodged from his stirrup iron and although he advised the Stewards that he was able to continue to push CHANCHENG GLORY out to the finish of the event, he was being somewhat hampered by his foot being dislodged. L Hewitson was advised, wherever possible, he must ensure that his foot is securely positioned within his stirrup iron to prevent a similar occurrence again. Subsequently Jockey Hewitson’s stirrup irons were inspected by the Stewards and found to be in good order and nothing was identified that would have caused his foot to be dislodged from the stirrup iron. VICTOR THE WINNER (G404): A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. INVINCIBLE SAGE (H301): Bumped at the start. After the race, H Bowman reported that whilst the horse was held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres, when asked for an effort thereafter, INVINCIBLE SAGE responded in a disappointing manner to his riding. He added that, in his opinion, INVINCIBLE SAGE may have reached the end of its preparation. Trainer D J Hall stated that INVINCIBLE SAGE had pleased him leading into the event and in particular it barrier trialed well at Conghua on 24 May 2024. He added the only explanation he could offer for its disappointing performance was that INVINCIBLE SAGE was disadvantaged when it lost momentum in the early part of the Home Straight when held up. Mr Hall confirmed that this would be the last run for the horse’s preparation. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SIGHT SUCCESS (D375): No report. STOLTZ (G147): Jumped only fairly. FLYING ACE (G045): Sent for sampling post-race. HOWDEEPISYOURLOVE (H093): Bumped at the start. MUGEN (H338): Jumped only fairly. When questioned regarding his riding rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Home Straight and as to whether there was an option to improve to the outside of STOLTZ sooner than what he did, H Bentley stated that his instructions were to endeavour to improve between runners as MUGEN had raced best when being ridden in this manner previously. He added whilst the opportunity was available to shift to the outside of STOLTZ, having regard to his instructions, he persevered with a run to the inside of STOLTZ between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres before the run closed and he then commenced to shift to the outside of STOLTZ. He further stated that MUGEN lay in as he endeavoured to shift to the outside of STOLTZ and as a result did not obtain clear running to the outside of that runner until after the 200 Metres when MUGEN finished the race off well. Trainer P C Ng confirmed the instructions and stated that he issued such instructions as MUGEN had performed best when ridden in this manner and in particular when it last won on 21 January 2024 when it improved in between runners in the Home Straight. Mr Ng expressed satisfaction with H Bentley’s handling of MUGEN. KA YING RISING (J062): Sent for sampling post-race.
