FORTUNE PATROL was slow to begin. ANONYMA began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, SPEED FORCE shifted in and brushed SKY GEM. From the outside barriers, AMAZING LUCK and WEALTHY EMPLOYEE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, WEALTHY EMPLOYEE was left racing wide and without cover and was steadied to obtain a trailing position behind EXALTATION after the 1400 Metres. Approaching the 1300 Metres, WEALTHY EMPLOYEE shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of AMAZING LUCK. After attempting to improve into tight running inside CROWN AVENUE making the turn after the 600 Metres, SKY GEM was steadied away from the heels of that horse which was taken in marginally by EXALTATION. MAGNETISM, which was racing inside SKY GEM, raced tight for a short distance in consequence. Near the 550 Metres, EXALTATION and SPEED FORCE bumped, resulting in SPEED FORCE becoming unbalanced. At the entrance to the Straight, SPEED FORCE became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by GO BALLISTIC (L Ferraris) which shifted out. L Ferraris was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. When SPEED FORCE became unbalanced, it shifted in, resulting in GO BALLISTIC momentarily racing in restricted room between SPEED FORCE and ANONYMA. Apprentice C L Chau (EXALTATION) dropped his whip at the top of the Straight. As this was the third occasion in recent times that Apprentice Chau had been reported to have dropped his whip, he was placed on notice that should he offend again in the near future, further action may be taken. When endeavouring to improve into tight running between EXALTATION and SKY GEM approaching the 250 Metres, CROWN AVENUE was crowded for room between SKY GEM and EXALTATION which was taken out by SPEED FORCE. After this, CROWN AVENUE raced tight inside SKY GEM for a short distance. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE PATROL and WEALTHY EMPLOYEE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CROWN AVENUE, GO BALLISTIC and SKY GEM were sent for sampling.

ROYAL RACER was withdrawn on 13.9.21 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right front medial suspensory branch injury). Before being allowed to race again, ROYAL RACER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LUCKY DIAMOND shifted out at the start and bumped JOLLY HONOUR which in turn shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of VICTORIOUS SEEKER, resulting in both JOLLY HONOUR and VICTORIOUS SEEKER becoming badly unbalanced. FAITHFUL TRINITY and FLASH FAMOUS bumped at the start. FLASH FAMOUS was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. After travelling a short distance, VICTORIOUS SEEKER shifted out and bumped SEAWEED FORTUNE. Near the 1550 Metres, VICTORIOUS SEEKER was crowded for room inside SEAWEED FORTUNE (C Y Ho) which, when being ridden along, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of RED IMPACT which itself shifted in. C Y Ho was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances to ensure that unnecessary pressure is not placed on other horses. Approaching and passing the 1100 Metres, FAST PACE travelled keenly outside the lead. Near the 800 Metres, VICTORIOUS SEEKER was left racing wide and without cover. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, FAITHFUL TRINITY was momentarily eased away from the heels of V CHEVALIERS. Passing the 50 Metres and again close to the finishing line, V CHEVALIERS raced tight inside FAST PACE. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SEAWEED FORTUNE, C Y Ho stated that due to the pace of the race being moderate in the early stages, his mount raced somewhat keenly after the 1200 Metres. He said when the pace of the race increased along the Back Straight, SEAWEED FORTUNE was initially able to respond to the change in tempo satisfactorily, however, then came under heavy pressure near the 500 Metres. He said, despite being vigorously ridden prior to and rounding the Home Turn, SEAWEED FORTUNE did not respond to his riding and then was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to close off the race. He added that SEAWEED FORTUNE is well-known to have breathing issues and he felt that these issues may have resulted in the horse’s failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of SEAWEED FORTUNE immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. LUCKY DIAMOND and FAST PACE were sent for sampling.

Passing the 250 Metres, SUNNY SMILE momentarily raced tight inside MISTER ARM which got its head on the side and shifted in before being shifted out to relieve the tightening to SUNNY SMILE. When questioned, H N Wong stated that it was intended for MISTER ARM to obtain a forward position and lead if possible. He said prior to the start being effected MISTER ARM was standing satisfactorily, however, when the gates opened the horse lifted its front feet off the ground, bumped the inside of its barrier and was then slow to begin. He said this resulted in MISTER ARM racing back in the field tonight. He said when required to race back in the field, MISTER ARM travelled reasonably in the early and middle stages and then finished off the race fairly in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of MISTER ARM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of TIGERLAD, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, TIGERLAD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LITTLE PLAYER continued to lay out for the remainder of the race and passing the 50 Metres was held up for clear running behind FIRE BALL and HERO STAR. Because of this, LITTLE PLAYER was not able to be tested over the concluding stages. Passing the 300 Metres, HERO STAR shifted in and brushed FIRE BALL. Passing the 200 Metres, FIRE BALL got its head on the side and lay out away from HAPPY TANGO. When questioned, K C Leung stated that he was asked to ride HERO STAR positively in the early stages and obtain a forward position. He said to ensure as far as possible that HERO STAR was able to begin well, he gave the horse a good warm up behind the barriers prior to being loaded. He said after beginning satisfactorily he rode HERO STAR along for some distance in the early stages including slapping the horse down the shoulder with the whip, however, HERO STAR was not able to show sufficient speed to cross runners to its inside and lead. He said making the first turn after the 1000 Metres HERO STAR was racing outside FIRE BALL and HAPPY TANGO and whilst he would have had to make too much use of his mount to cross those horses, it was not travelling well enough to be able to be put in a position to go forward of FIRE BALL and HAPPY TANGO. He said as a result HERO STAR was left racing wide and without cover. After the race, Z Purton reported that FIRE BALL was able to obtain a forward position in the early stages and travelled well outside the lead. He said FIRE BALL came under pressure at the entrance to the Straight and after giving him a limited response in the early part of the Straight then weakened over the concluding stages. He said, in his opinion, FIRE BALL’s condition, when racing first up, gave out over the latter stages. A veterinary inspection of FIRE BALL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of PARTY GENIUS immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood and mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PARTY GENIUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FIRE BALL, BALTIC WHISPER and HAPPY TANGO were sent for sampling.

BRIGHT KID was slow to begin. COLONEL shifted in abruptly at the start, resulting in STOICISM being bumped and taken in onto LINCOLN BRIGHT which was inconvenienced. From wide barriers, SICOMORO and CLASSIC POSH were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. After being steadied in the early stages, A LA KING travelled wide and without cover throughout. After the 1000 Metres, LINCOLN BRIGHT travelled keenly and proved difficult to settle. At the entrance to the Straight, EXUBERANT became unbalanced when bumped by SIMPLY FLUKE (Apprentice C L Chau) which attempted to improve between EXUBERANT and A LA KING where there was insufficient room. Apprentice Chau was severely reprimanded and told that the Stewards considered whether the incident warranted a charge of careless riding. In electing not to proceed to a charge, he was told to ensure that he exercises due care when shifting ground so as not to make unnecessary contact with other runners. After this, when unable to improve between A LA KING and EXUBERANT, SIMPLY FLUKE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of A LA KING and near the 275 Metres was directed to the inside of that horse to obtain clear running. After the 150 Metres, EXUBERANT got its head on the side and lay in, resulting in its rider having to correct his mount. After this, EXUBERANT continued to lay in over the concluding stages, resulting in A LA KING racing tight inside that horse close to the finishing line. When questioned, M F Poon stated that he was instructed to obtain cover on TRIPLE TRIPLE and it was felt that, from barrier 9, this would result in the horse racing in about a midfield position or worse than midfield. He said on jumping TRIPLE TRIPLE threw its head up abruptly which resulted in him becoming unbalanced and causing TRIPLE TRIPLE to get its head up on a number of occasions as he attempted to regain balance on the horse. He said the manner in which TRIPLE TRIPLE began and due to him becoming badly unbalanced, this resulted in the horse losing ground. M F Poon was advised to ensure that he gives his mounts sufficient rein to be able to begin satisfactorily. Irrespective of this, the Stewards ruled that prior to being permitted to race again, TRIPLE TRIPLE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a stalls test. A veterinary inspection of MIG ENERGY immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils and also to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
