On March 25th, during a turf trial over 1600m, the horse moved out on the bend and was urged forward with the whip. On March 14th, in a Happy Valley barrier trial over 1700m, it showed little promise despite strong urging from the jockey. Four weeks ago, the horse ran poorly on dirt over a mile, settling comfortably but lacking an impressive turn of foot. Two recent trials have not revealed any improvement. Switching to a longer distance at Happy Valley this time, and racing over this trip for the first time, the horse benefits from a one-pound weight reduction. The distance should suit, and with a favorable barrier draw, it has the potential to lead if jumping cleanly and setting a fast pace.
