Six weeks ago, this horse ran a respectable race on the dirt over 1200m, jumping slowly and settling towards the rear with a steady pace before being urged forward. A recent barrier trial showed it struggled to keep up with the leading pace. Now switching to a mile on the dirt for its first attempt at this distance, carrying a two-pound weight reduction but facing an unfavorable increase in trip, despite drawing an inside barrier. The trainer and jockey have a good rapport, and late work was observed before entering the gate, but it is considered primarily a trial run.
