Following a pair of dirt trials on {6/3} (1200m, finishing 6th, 7th, 9th with an average break) and {18/2} (1200m, improving to finish 3rd after moving out at the 200m mark), this horse ran a respectable second last start over this course and distance. While able to lead, the pace was even and lacked a strong finishing kick, losing by a half-length margin. Two subsequent barrier trials have shown some improvement. This time, carrying just a one-pound increase in weight, the gelding appears competitive with similar times in the field. Likely to track the leaders if allowed, this runner boasts good positioning potential and a trusting trainer/jockey relationship – however, a wide draw presents a concern, limiting hopes beyond a placing.
