This gelding recently completed a dirt trial over 1200m on March 13th, finishing with encouraging late speed after moving out two furlongs from the finish. His last outing at Happy Valley over a mile saw a slow break but strong finishing effort. A subsequent turf barrier trial wasn’t fully extended. He races off a 2lb drop in weight this time and is likely to be held up in the run, though his late surge may not be enough to overhaul rivals given unfavourable circumstances and a perceived jockey/trainer mismatch. The switch to Matthew Poon, who appears to have a better understanding of the horse’s capabilities, could see improvement.
