After being boxed, SPIRIT OF LO PAN became fractious in its stall, reared, struck its head on the barrier and sat down behind. SPIRIT OF LO PAN was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of SPIRIT OF LO PAN. Before being permitted to race again, SPIRIT OF LO PAN will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When SPIRIT OF LO PAN became fractious in its stall, Z Purton, its rider, injured his right wrist. After the race, Z Purton was examined by the Club's doctor who said he was fit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements. From the outside barrier, BOLD CHAMPION was taken back on jumping. BOBO WIN was slow to begin, then despite being ridden along failed to muster speed. After the 1600 Metres, CHATER DE LAGO, which was being ridden along vigorously, was steadied away from the heels of SPEEDY STAR which shifted in while also being ridden along. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, KING OF FISH, which was hanging out, was bumped by FRIENDSHIP which shifted in. After this, KING OF FISH continued to hang out and proved difficult to ride. As the tempo of the race steadied approaching the turn at the 1000 Metres, KAISER'S CHOIX got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of KING OF FISH. After the 1000 Metres, LUCKY MONEY STAR, which had been racing wide and without cover, was allowed to stride forward and join the lead. After entering the Back Straight, BOLD CHAMPION, which had been left racing wide and without cover, proved difficult to settle and got its head up on several occasions. BOLD CHAMPION was then able to obtain cover near the 600 Metres. At the 700 Metres, BIG KAHUNA, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied away from the heels of BOBO WIN which in turn was steadied away from the heels of KAISER'S CHOIX. BOLD CHAMPION was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, BOLD CHAMPION was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, BOLD CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SPEEDY STAR and CHATER DE LAGO were sent for sampling.
