ENGINEERING WONDER was slow to begin. HEART TO HEART began awkwardly and lost ground, then near the 1100 Metres was steadied away from the heels of NEW TRIUMPH. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, NEW TRIUMPH failed to muster speed. From a wide barrier, LUCKY TYCOON was taken back in the early stages. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres and in the Back Straight, SUPER GENERAL proved very difficult to settle and approaching the 900 Metres was checked when awkwardly placed close to the heels of THUNDER VALLEY and after this close to the heels of GO BRITANNIA. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, KINGSTON WINNER was left racing without cover. Also making the turn at the 600 Metres, HEART TO HEART, which had been bumped when racing tight inside BRILLIANT TREASURE which had its head on the side and was laying in, was checked when awkwardly placed between that horse and SUPER GENERAL which was steadied when momentarily crowded for room inside MARVELLOUS. No action was taken. NEW TRIUMPH, which was following, was steadied in consequence. NEW TRIUMPH was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NEW TRIUMPH after the race did not show any significant findings. SUNNY GOLF, GO BRITANNIA and MARVELLOUS were sent for sampling.
