After being mounted in the Parade Ring, MIRACLE FORTUNE became very fractious, reared, dislodged K Shea, its rider, and then made contact with a wall of the saddling stalls. MIRACLE FORTUNE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of MIRACLE FORTUNE. Before being allowed to race again, MIRACLE FORTUNE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As the gates opened, MASCOT FORTUNE reared and as a consequence lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, MASCOT FORTUNE will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. HANDSOME TARGET began awkwardly and bumped the inside gate of its stall, then made the turn at the 800 Metres awkwardly and steadied. From a wide barrier in the early stages, ISLAND SUPER was taken back to a position with cover. At the 250 Metres, the whip of C K Tong (RICH DRAGON) was knocked from his hand by the whip of B Prebble (HANDSOME TARGET). Near the 150 Metres, WINNING FELLOWSHIP shifted in and was steadied away from the heels of KINDACROSS. D Whyte (CONGRATULATION) explained when ISLAND SUPER improved on his outside after the 400 Metres, CONGRATULATION hung in badly. He said near the 200 Metres while continuing to hang, CONGRATULATION shifted in and was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SCOOT DA LOOT. He said when SCOOT DA LOOT then shifted in away from CONGRATULATION, he was able to ride his mount out fully. He did say because of the manner in which CONGRATULATION hung in in the early part of the Straight, he was placed at a disadvantage in riding his mount out. MASCOT FORTUNE was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of MASCOT FORTUNE after the race did not show any significant findings. STEP TO WIN and KINDACROSS were sent for sampling.
