I CAN (H381): Shortly after the stat was steadied when crowded between HARRY’S HERO and ATOMIC BEAUTY which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider B Avdulla. Was left racing wide and without cover from the 900 Metres and then was allowed to stride forward near the 700 Metres but continued to race without cover. Sent for sampling post-race.
SETANTA (G095): Sent for sampling post-race.
STAR LINE (J110): No report.
ATOMIC BEAUTY (H066): Shifted in shortly after the start and was bumped on the hindquarters. Raced wide and without cover in the early stages. Momentarily held up making the Home Turn.
CAN'T GO WONG (H087): Sent for sampling post-race.
TOGEPI (G458): Near the 150 Metres became held up for clear running behind ATOMIC BEAUTY and did not obtain clear running until near the 50 Metres.
FAST VICTORY (H393): Making the Home Turn was steadied when crowded by STAR LINE (K De Melo) which shifted in and away from I CAN. K De Melo was severely reprimanded and advised he must make a greater effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in future. Over the final 100 Metres could not be fully ridden out when positioned behind THE KHAN which was giving ground. After the race, C L Chau reported that after being crowded on the Home Turn his mount responded only fairly to his riding in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
NOT A FEW (J109): No report.
TIGER AND GOLD (J064): Jumped only fairly.
AMAZING BOY (D513): Jumped only fairly. After the race, M Chadwick reported that his mount would appreciate a surface with more give in it.
HARRY'S HERO (H332): For some distance in the early stages raced tight between NOT A FEW and I CAN which was taken in by ATOMIC BEAUTY (B Avdulla). Near the 1500 Metres HARRY’S HERO was then steadied when ATOMIC BEAUTY continued to shift in. B Avdulla was reprimanded. Near the 350 Metres A Hamelin dropped his whip. As the was the third occasion this season that A Hamelin had dropped his whip, he was issued with a final warning. After the event, A Hamelin reported that his mount raced ungenerously throughout the race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
THE KHAN (H489): After the race, A Badel stated that he was given no specific instructions. He said his mount jumped well and as a result he elected to ride THE KHAN forward to lead the event when no other runner was showing the intent to hold the lead. Trainer C Fownes advised that whilst he had given Jockey Badel the option to take up a more forward position, he had not expected THE KHAN to lead the event. He added, in his opinion, THE KHAN was not suited by racing keenly in the lead which resulted in it giving ground in the Home Straight.
