BIRDSVILLE jumped awkwardly and shortly after was crowded by DRAGON KINGDOM which shifted in and away from THE GOOD DEAL after being taken in slightly by that runner. BIRDSVILLE was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. M M NEBULA and ISLAND SHINE bumped at the start. A short distance later, ISLAND SHINE was then crowded by JACK WIN which shifted in, resulting in JACK WIN and ISLAND SHINE bumping and ISLAND SHINE shifting in, causing M M NEBULA to be steadied away from the heels of THE GOOD DEAL. Shortly after the start, ACA POWER shifted out and bumped HANDSOME GUYS. Near the 1000 Metres, HANDSOME GUYS was momentarily crowded by THE GOOD DEAL (L Ferraris) which shifted in before being corrected. L Ferraris was advised to exercise more care. Near the 700 Metres, M M NEBULA was momentarily crowded by JACK WIN (Apprentice Y L Chung) which shifted in when not quite clear. Apprentice Chung was advised to exercise more care. In this incident, SUNSHINE LEGENDARY, which was racing keenly, got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of M M NEBULA. Near the 650 Metres, ACA POWER shifted in and away from M M NEBULA and in doing so made contact with NOIR RIDER. ISLAND SHINE lost its right front plate making the Home Turn. Making the Home Turn, BIRDSVILLE and SUNSHINE LEGENDARY bumped due to BIRDSVILLE being shifted to the outside of M M NEBULA to obtain clear running. ACA POWER had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Over the concluding stages, ACA POWER could not be ridden out to the finish when it improved onto the heels of THE GOOD DEAL. Passing the 200 Metres, BIRDSVILLE improved into a run between SUNSHINE LEGENDARY and M M NEBULA (M Chadwick). A short distance later, BIRDSVILLE was steadied to avoid the heels of M M NEBULA when that runner shifted out. M Chadwick was severely reprimanded. Over the final 100 Metres, SUNSHINE LEGENDARY lay in under pressure. JACK WIN raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. After the race, H Bowman (ISLAND SHINE) reported that whilst his mount was not afforded completely clear running in the Straight, it still raced in a disappointing manner in his opinion. A veterinary inspection of ISLAND SHINE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of GENERAL ACE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. THE GOOD DEAL, SUNSHINE LEGENDARY and DRAGON KINGDOM were sent for sampling.
