Steward Report Predict Pace Map
PLENTY PLENTY jumped only fairly and soon after the start shifted out and bumped with SMOKEY BEAR. PACHISI jumped awkwardly and lost ground. PACHISI was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From wide barriers, A AMERIC TE SPECSO and RACING FIGHTER were also shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Making the first turn approaching the 1000 Metres, ISLAND SURPRISE was eased to avoid LORIZ (Apprentice Y L Chung) which shifted in when not quite clear. Apprentice Chung was advised to exercise more care. In this incident, ISLAND SURPRISE shifted in and bumped YOO YOO KNIGHT, resulting in YOO YOO KNIGHT, which was racing keenly, becoming slightly unbalanced. Near the 900 Metres, GO GO GO shifted in slightly before being corrected by its rider, C Y Ho, who shifted his weight to the left in order to assist in correcting his mount. Passing the 900 Metres, YOO YOO KNIGHT, which was inclined to race keenly, was steadied to avoid ISLAND SURPRISE (M Chadwick) which shifted in when not quite clear. M Chadwick was advised to exercise more care. After this, YOO YOO KNIGHT continued to over-race for some distance thereafter. GOODMANSHIP raced wide and without cover until near the 500 Metres. When questioned regarding SEE U AGAIN settling towards the back of the field, C L Chau stated that his instructions were to endeavour to obtain a midfield position with cover, but not to make use of his mount to achieve that position. He said SEE U AGAIN jumped awkwardly and blundered soon after and when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to come back and follow GO GO GO which resulted in SEE U AGAIN racing slightly further back than anticipated. A veterinary inspection of SEE U AGAIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, Z Purton (PACHISI) reported that his mount was inclined to race keenly throughout the early and middle stages, particularly when positioned tight to the inside of GO GO GO near the 900 Metres. He added that when placed under pressure in the Straight PACHISI responded only fairly to his riding and lay in throughout the event. He said when he felt there was something amiss with the horse over the concluding stages, he looked down on PACHISI for a short distance before continuing to ride PACHISI out to the finish of the event. A veterinary inspection of PACHISI immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer”. Before being allowed to race again, PACHISI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on PLENTY PLENTY at the request of Trainer T P Yung. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. PACHISI, WOOD ON FIRE and SMOKEY BEAR were sent for sampling.
