When proceeding to the barriers, JACK WIN became fractious, resulting in its rider, L Ferraris, being dislodged. JACK WIN then continued to be troublesome in proceeding to the Start. To prevent an unreasonable delay, JACK WIN was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, JACK WIN will be required to undergo a series of consecutive barrier trials around a bend with emphasis on proceeding to the barriers in a timely manner. Subsequently L Ferraris was examined by the Chief Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements. ACA POWER began awkwardly. EL VALIENTE shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of STAR OF YUEN LONG, resulting in EL VALIENTE becoming unbalanced. ASIAN ONE and ERNEST FEELING bumped heavily on jumping. BEST FOR YOU and BUDDY SPIRIT also bumped at the start. From a wide barrier, SUPER KINGDOM was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. After being ridden along for some distance in the early stages to improve its position, EL VALIENTE was steadied away from the heels of ASIAN ONE (S De Sousa) at the 1200 Metres which, when laying in, shifted in when not properly clear. S De Sousa was severely reprimanded and told to ensure that he is properly clear of horses when shifting ground. For the majority of the race, THE GOOD DEAL travelled wide and without cover and in the early part of the Straight lay in under pressure. Passing the 400 Metres, EL VALIENTE was directed out away from behind THE GOOD DEAL. In the Straight, CALL ME LU gave ground abruptly and finished tailed out. As this was the second consecutive occasion that CALL ME LU had finished tailed out in its races, the Stewards ruled that the horse must undergo a series of consecutive satisfactory barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again. A veterinary inspection of THE GOOD DEAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ACA POWER, ASIAN ONE and BEAUTY NOVA were sent for sampling.
