After being loaded into the barriers, FUN N GLORY got its head down and got out under the front gates, resulting in M F Poon, its rider, being dislodged. Acting on veterinary advice that FUN N GLORY was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. The remainder of the field was removed from the barriers whilst FUN N GLORY then completed a circuit of the track riderless. Before being allowed to race again, FUN N GLORY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Just prior to the start being effected, E RAINBOW became fractious and after beginning only fairly then lost ground when crowded for room between NORDIC DRAGON and KILLER INSTINCT which was taken out by SHADOW RUNNER. From the outside barriers, SWEET DIAMOND and SHINING FORTUNE were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Making the first turn near the 1050 Metres, BRAVE STAR commenced to travel keenly when racing very wide and without cover and after being steadied near the 1000 Metres in an attempt to obtain cover was unable to shift across to race behind GANG OF BROTHERS and therefore was allowed to improve its position after the 800 Metres to race outside the lead approaching the 600 Metres. Also making the first turn near the 1050 Metres, E RAINBOW raced tight between KILLER INSTINCT and MELBOURNE HALL which shifted in. Approaching the 900 Metres, SHINING FORTUNE commenced to prove very difficult to settle and was steadied away from the heels of BRAVE STAR. Passing the 900 Metres, HERCULES was shifted in away from the heels of MELBOURNE HALL and then approaching the 600 Metres was hampered by PLENTY PLENTY which got its head on the side and lay in across the heels of MELBOURNE HALL. At the 600 Metres, E RAINBOW lay in away from the heels of BRAVE STAR and bumped SHADOW RUNNER. Passing the 500 Metres, SHINING FORTUNE got its head up when being checked away from the heels of MELBOURNE HALL when proving very difficult to settle. For the majority of the race, GANG OF BROTHERS travelled wide and without cover. The performance of PLENTY PLENTY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PLENTY PLENTY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of PLENTY PLENTY immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. A veterinary inspection of GANG OF BROTHERS and E RAINBOW immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. NORDIC DRAGON and MELBOURNE HALL were sent for sampling.
