REGENCY BO BO began only fairly. MACH TEN shifted out at the start and bumped UNITED WE STAND. On jumping and again a short distance after the start, AUGUST MOON shifted out and bumped UNTOLD RICHES, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. From wide barriers, DARING PURSUIT and SNOWALOT were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the 900 Metres, MACH TEN, which was having its first race start today, lay in and made contact with KING ECCELLENTE. MACH TEN then got its head on the side and hung out making the turn after the 900 Metres across the heels of GREAT FOR YOU and SUPER SUNNY SING, resulting in MACH TEN being severely checked. When MACH TEN hung out, GLENEALY GENERALS was severely checked when crowded for room inside AUGUST MOON which was also hampered. When GLENEALY GENERALS was severely checked, it shifted out, resulting in DARING PURSUIT and DUBLIN STAR being badly hampered and taken very wide. This resulted in GLENEALY GENERALS, DARING PURSUIT and DUBLIN STAR all taking no further competitive part in the race. The Stewards were of the opinion that this incident was solely as a result of MACH TEN’s racing manners and therefore they ruled that MACH TEN will be required to undertake a series of satisfactory barrier trials around a bend prior to being permitted to race again. A veterinary inspection of MACH TEN immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. As such, MACH TEN will also be subjected to an official veterinary examination. For some distance approaching and passing the 700 Metres, GALLANT HERO got its head on the side, lay in and proved difficult to ride. Then approaching the 600 Metres, GALLANT HERO, when being aggressively ridden, continued to lay in and became unbalanced of its own accord passing the 600 Metres. Passing the 400 Metres, KING ECCELLENTE was shifted to the inside of BEAUTY MISSION after being disappointed for running between that horse and GREAT FOR YOU. Also passing the 400 Metres, MACH TEN was awkwardly placed behind GREAT FOR YOU when being directed to the outside of that horse. When MACH TEN was directed out, SNOWALOT was inconvenienced. Near the 300 Metres, GALLANT HERO, which was continuing to lay in, was directed to the outside of KING ECCELLENTE to obtain clear running. Passing the 200 Metres, GREAT FOR YOU got its head on the side and lay in under pressure. REGENCY BO BO lay in under pressure over the concluding stages. For the majority of the race, SUPER SUNNY SING travelled wide and without cover. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on GREAT FOR YOU at the request of Trainer Y S Tsui. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. Also after the race, BEAUTY MISSION was found to have sustained a wound to the outside of the left hind cannon. A veterinary inspection of AUGUST MOON, DUBLIN STAR, DARING PURSUIT and GLENEALY GENERALS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. DARING PURSUIT, UNTOLD RICHES and REGENCY BO BO were sent for sampling.
