SPLIT OF A SECOND was slow to begin and then was hampered by DAY DAY RICH which shifted out. PRINCE OF BON BON shifted out on jumping and brushed DIAMOND SOARS. DIAMOND SOARS then shifted out away from PRINCE OF BON BON, resulting in CARRY THE DIAMOND (L Ferraris) losing ground when crowded for room inside SUPER KINGDOM which became unbalanced when bumped by CARRY THE DIAMOND. After the race, L Ferraris reported that it was intended for CARRY THE DIAMOND to be ridden in a forward position tonight, however, after losing ground as a result of being crowded at the start, he elected to shift his mount across behind runners and obtain cover rather than pursue a forward position. This resulted in CARRY THE DIAMOND racing much further back in the field tonight than had been anticipated. After this, SUPER KINGDOM was shifted across behind runners. From the outside barrier, THIS IS GUTS was also steadied on jumping and shifted across behind runners. Approaching the 800 Metres, GOODMANSHIP raced tight inside ALLOY KING which got its head on the side and shifted out away from DIAMOND SOARS despite the efforts of its rider. ALLOY KING got its head on the side and lay out making the turn after the 500 Metres. For some distance approaching the 400 Metres, SPLIT OF A SECOND raced close to the heels of DAY DAY RICH. RAGING BLAZE was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and approaching the 200 Metres bumped ALLOY KING when being directed to the outside of GOODMANSHIP. After this, RAGING BLAZE and ALLOY KING raced tight as RAGING BLAZE continued to shift out to obtain clear running. When ALLOY KING was taken out by RAGING BLAZE, this resulted in PRINCE OF BON BON being inconvenienced approaching the 100 Metres. Throughout the race, HAPPY FAT CAT travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of DAY DAY RICH immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DAY DAY RICH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of ALLOY KING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. DAY DAY RICH, HANDSOME REBEL and HAPPY FAT CAT were sent for sampling.
