As the start was effected, E BROTHER lifted its front feet off the ground, resulting in the horse beginning only fairly.
OVER THE MOON also began only fairly.
ADEFILL shifted out at the start and bumped MIRACULOUS HONOUR. ADEFILL was then steadied away from the heels of MIRACULOUS HONOUR (H W Lai) which shifted in when being ridden along. H W Lai was reprimanded and told to ensure that he makes a far greater effort than he did on this occasion to prevent his mounts from shifting ground.
RECIPROCATION was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Passing the 1100 Metres, SIXTH GENERATION got its head on the side and lay in away from E BROTHER, resulting in SIXTH GENERATION brushing the running rail.
For some distance approaching and passing the 1100 Metres, HAPPY FAT CAT was awkwardly placed inside the heels of RIVER VIEWS (H Bentley) which shifted in. HAPPY FAT CAT was then tightened for room passing the 1000 Metres between RIVER VIEWS and MIRACULOUS HONOUR which shifted out. H Bentley was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Making the turn near the 900 Metres, HAPPY FAT CAT shifted out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SMILING MOON which also shifted in. SMILING MOON was then left racing wide and without cover passing the 800 Metres.
Passing the 550 Metres, E BROTHER was momentarily steadied away from the heels of SIXTH GENERATION (L Hewitson) which shifted out when not properly clear. L Hewitson was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
E BROTHER (Z Purton) had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 200 Metres was awkwardly placed behind MIRACULOUS HONOUR which lay out under pressure. After the race, Z Purton reported that it was intended for E BROTHER to be ridden in a forward position today as usual. He said after being required to race further back in the field than had been anticipated, E BROTHER did not finish the race off in the Straight. He added that although E BROTHER had placed on the turf before, in his opinion, the horse is better suited on the All Weather surface. A veterinary inspection of E BROTHER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
In the early part of the Straight, REGENT GLORY got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.
Also in the early part of the Straight, HAPPY FAT CAT (K Teetan) lay out under pressure. After this, HAPPY FAT CAT gave ground. After the race, K Teetan stated that, in his opinion, the horse did not handle today’s track surface. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY FAT CAT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Approaching the 250 Metres, Z Purton’s whip was knocked from his grasp by the whip of J Moreira (SUPER SUNNY SING).
Near the 175 Metres, ADEFILL was shifted in away from the heels of SIXTH GENERATION which lay in under pressure. ADEFILL was then steadied approaching the 50 Metres when disappointed for running between SIXTH GENERATION and RIVER VIEWS which shifted out.
OVER THE MOON was held up for clear running approaching the 50 Metres.
E BROTHER, SUPER SUNNY SING and REGENT GLORY were sent for sampling.
