TRADER, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 10.6.22 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fractious when being transported from the Conghua Racecourse to Hong Kong). Before being allowed to race again, TRADER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
JAZZ ANGEL and LIGHTNING BOLT began only fairly.
MAN STAR and CALL ME TEDDY brushed on jumping.
Shortly after the start, JAZZ ANGEL shifted out and bumped LUCKY FUN which then got its head up when awkwardly placed outside JAZZ ANGEL which itself was taken out marginally by FLYING DRAGON.
Approaching and passing the 800 Metres, EVERYONE’S VICTORY (J Moreira) lost ground after getting its head on the side and laying in which resulted in MR VALIANT racing tight inside EVERYONE’S VICTORY and outside LUCKY FUN as that horse was ridden along to maintain its position between MR VALIANT and JAZZ ANGEL. As EVERYONE’S VICTORY lay in, DIAMOND BRILLIANT shifted across to take up running which was available to it. Then making the turn near the 700 Metres, EVERYONE’S VICTORY, which continued to lay in, was severely checked as a result of being taken out across the heels of DIAMOND BRILLIANT, which shifted in marginally, by MR VALIANT which in turn was taken out by LUCKY FUN which became unbalanced and bumped MR VALIANT as a result of JAZZ ANGEL making the turn awkwardly and shifting out marginally. In this incident, MR VALIANT was also badly hampered when crowded for room between LUCKY FUN and DIAMOND BRILLIANT. The Stewards formed the view that whilst this incident was one of some significance, it was primarily as a result of the racing manners of EVERYONE’S VICTORY which was compounded by the shift out from horses on its inside and as such no further action was taken. When EVERYONE’S VICTORY was checked, MAN STAR was checked and shifted out away from behind that horse. LIGHTNING BOLT was also hampered in consequence. After the race, J Moreira reported that, in his opinion, EVERYONE’S VICTORY’s failure to run on in the Straight was directly attributable to this incident as the horse was then not able to recover after having to be severely checked at a critical point of the race. A veterinary inspection of EVERYONE’S VICTORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
JOLLY RULER was badly held up for clear running from on straightening until after the 100 Metres and then raced tight inside CALL ME TEDDY close to the finishing line. Because of this, JOLLY RULER was not able to be properly tested. When held up for clear running behind FLYING DRAGON near the 300 Metres, JOLLY RULER became badly unbalanced.
Throughout the race, DIAMOND BRILLIANT travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of LIGHTNING BOLT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
EVERYONE’S VICTORY, SUNNY BOY and HELENE WISDOM STAR were sent for sampling.
