SEA MONARCH began awkwardly and lost ground. CIRCUIT ELITE also began awkwardly. As the start was effected, STRATHMORETOO put its head down and to the left, resulting in the horse being slow to begin. MISTER ARM shifted in at the start and hampered GARLIC HERO. NOBLE MAN shifted out shortly after the start and inconvenienced THIS IS CHARISMA. CORDYCEPS ONE, which was leaning on the outside of its stall, began awkwardly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Also from the outside barrier, SMILING FACE was steadied on jumping to obtain a position closer to the rail. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, SEA MONARCH got its head up on a number of occasions when obtaining a position behind CIRCUIT ELITE. SEA MONARCH then continued to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed behind CIRCUIT ELITE after passing the winning post on the first occasion. Passing the 1100 Metres, STRATHMORETOO got its head up when racing close to heels of GARLIC HERO. MISTER ARM and THIS IS CHARISMA raced tight after the 600 Metres. Approaching the 500 Metres, SEA MONARCH was awkwardly placed behind CIRCUIT ELITE. CORDYCEPS ONE was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight. In the early part of the Straight, WONDERFUL TIGER lay in under pressure. Passing the 300 Metres, R Maia (CORDYCEPS ONE) dropped his whip. Approaching the 250 Metres, CIRCUIT ELITE momentarily raced close to the heels of NOBLE MAN as that horse shifted to the inside of WONDERFUL TIGER to obtain clear running. SEA MONARCH had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 150 Metres and then after the 150 Metres raced tight inside MISTER ARM when improving between that horse and THIS IS CHARISMA. After the race, J Moreira (DAILY BEAUTY) attributed tonight’s disappointing performance to having to race in a three wide position throughout. He said along the Back Straight DAILY BEAUTY was then required to travel without cover and after being taken out by THIS IS CHARISMA passing the 700 Metres was able to briefly obtain some cover behind that horse, however, continued to travel wide. He added that DAILY BEAUTY came under heavy pressure prior to the 600 Metres and then gave ground noticeably rounding the Home Turn and in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of DAILY BEAUTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Also after the race, Z Purton reported that after travelling well in the early and middle stages, THIS IS CHARISMA improved into the race nicely prior to the Home Turn. He said in the early part of the Straight it appeared as though THIS IS CHARISMA was going to finish the race off, however, came under pressure passing the 250 Metres and then was disappointing in that it did not finish the race off over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of THIS IS CHARISMA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. THIS IS CHARISMA, CORDYCEPS ONE and NOBLE MAN were sent for sampling.
