On arrival at the Start, it was noted that ALL IS READY had blood in its mouth. ALL IS READY was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Just prior to the start being effected, SIGHT HERO became fractious and as the gates opened lifted its front feet, resulting in the horse losing ground. DOUBLE SHOW and BRAVE DREAMS were crowded for room on jumping between ALL IS READY and SCIENCE PATCH, both of which shifted ground. From wide barriers, CALL ME LU and VICTORIA GENERAL were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 950 Metres, FIGHTING STAR raced tight inside MIRACLES which got its head on the side and lay in away from FORTUNE CARRIER which throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. ALL IS READY lost its left hind plate making the turn after the 900 Metres. Near the 650 Metres, ALL IS READY got its head on the side and lay out towards the heels of DOUBLE SHOW. Passing the 600 Metres, BRAVE DREAMS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FOREVER GLORIOUS. Also passing the 600 Metres, SIGHT HERO was crowded for room inside ALL IS READY which shifted in marginally. When crowded for room, SIGHT HERO bumped the hindquarters of ALL IS READY, resulting in that horse becoming unbalanced and shifting in further and causing SIGHT HERO to be badly checked. The Stewards formed the opinion that the incident resulted in a minor shift from ALL IS READY which had been racing greenly rather than any rider error and accordingly no further action was taken. When SIGHT HERO was checked, CALL ME LU, which was following, was severely checked away from the heels of that horse and shifted out abruptly across the running of VICTORIA GENERAL which was also badly checked. BRAVE DREAMS was also inconvenienced. ALL IS READY had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and approaching the 250 Metres raced in restricted room inside DOUBLE SHOW which shifted in under pressure before being corrected by its rider. A veterinary inspection of RHAPSODY immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of SIGHT HERO and FORTUNE CARRIER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. BRAVE DREAMS, LUCKY QUALITY and FIGHTING STAR were sent for sampling.
