As the start was effected, TEAM GOODLUCK lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin. COLOURFUL PRINCE began only fairly. UTOPIA LIFE shifted in at the start and inconvenienced LE PLUS VITE. Despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, both COOLCELEB and TAKINGUFURTHER failed to muster speed. Passing the 800 Metres, E BROTHER was momentarily crowded for room inside SMART FOLKS (M L Yeung) which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the tightening to E BROTHER. M L Yeung was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. LE PLUS VITE made the turn after the 700 Metres awkwardly and shifted out and after this was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 50 Metres, UTOPIA LIFE was briefly awkwardly placed close to the heels of JAZZ ANGEL. Then over the concluding stages, WISDOM PATCH was awkwardly placed outside the heels of UTOPIA LIFE which shifted out under pressure. Throughout the race, UTOPIA LIFE travelled wide and without cover. L Currie (LE PLUS VITE) was reminded of his obligation in regards to the amount of whip to be used on a horse out of contention. A veterinary inspection of COLOURFUL PRINCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. E BROTHER, JAZZ ANGEL and SMART FOLKS were sent for sampling.
