ACCELERANDO shifted in at the start and bumped INDIGENOUS REALM which in turn shifted in and brushed JOYFUL GENIUS. SIXTH GENERATION shifted in at the start and bumped SUPERB DADDY which lost ground when unbalanced and crowded for room outside TURIN WARRIOR. From wide barriers, LIFELINE VISION and CITY LEGEND were steadied to obtain cover. Near the 1050 Metres, CIRCUIT ELITE was momentarily crowded for room inside AMAZING VICTORY which got its head on the side and shifted in away from NATURAL GOLD. ACCELERANDO made the turn after the 900 Metres awkwardly and shifted out towards the heels of INDIGENOUS REALM. When questioned, J Moreira stated that it was intended for CHEERY to be ridden in a position forward of midfield if possible from barrier 13. He said however that CHEERY began awkwardly and shifted out towards the heels of CITY LEGEND which resulted in CHEERY losing ground. He said he therefore shifted CHEERY across behind runners which resulted in the horse being positioned towards the rear of the field. He said after the 600 Metres he commenced to shift to the outside of ACCELERANDO to improve around that horse, however, ACCELERANDO lost ground abruptly passing the 500 Metres which resulted in CHEERY having to be checked away from the heels of that horse and losing momentum. He added that CHEERY was then able to obtain clear running to the inside of ACCELERANDO rounding the Home Turn and after being balanced up took some time to regather momentum. He said CHEERY then finished off the race well over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of CHEERY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of LIFELINE VISION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on COURAGEOUS KNIGHT at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, COURAGEOUS KNIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. JOYFUL GENIUS, NATURAL GOLD and COURAGEOUS KNIGHT were sent for sampling.
