BEAUTY NOVA was slow to begin. SUPER WINNER shifted in at the start and hampered HAPPY DAILY which in turn shifted in and inconvenienced PRESENCE. For some distance in the early stages, HAPPY DAILY travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover. LUCKY GOLD made the turn after the 900 Metres awkwardly. Passing the 400 Metres, LUCKY GOLD raced tight inside COPARTNER AMBITION when attempting to shift to the outside of HORSESAIN BOLT to obtain clear running. Passing the 300 Metres, LUCKY GOLD and BEAUTY NOVA raced tight. LUCKY GOLD then had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200 Metres. Approaching the 200 Metres, HORSESAIN BOLT was brushed by KA YING EXCELLENT which shifted out after being brushed by SUPER DYNAMITE. Passing the 200 Metres, BEAUTY NOVA was shifted in away from the heels of KA YING EXCELLENT. Over the concluding stages, KA YING EXCELLENT raced tight outside the heels of SUPER WINER. Because of this, KA YING EXCELLENT was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race. J Moreira (COPARTNER AMBITION) was reminded of his obligation in respect of not using the whip down the shoulder of the horse. Throughout the race, HORSESAIN BOLT travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, J Moreira stated that in the smaller than usual field, he was asked to ride COPARTNER AMBITION in about a midfield position if possible. He said that after COPARTNER AMBITION began very well the horse then travelled strongly in the early stages when being steadied to obtain cover behind initially SUPER WINNER and then HORSESAIN BOLT. A veterinary inspection of PRESENCE immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PRESENCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. COPARTNER AMBITION, SUPER DYNAMITE and SUPER WINNER were sent for sampling.
