Steward Report Predict Pace Map
The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in whilst they considered if A LA KING had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the videos, it was ascertained that as the start was effected A LA KING put its head down and when continuing to have its head down, H Bentley, its rider, was dislodged. A LA KING then refused to leave the barriers despite being riderless. As the Stewards were of the opinion that A LA KING had caused its own problems as the start was effected, they ruled that the horse had been afforded a fair start and accordingly, A LA KING was deemed to be a runner. Before being allowed to race again, A LA KING will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. LOOKING COOL began only fairly and then was hampered by LET’S DO IT which shifted in. CHARITY GRACE shifted out on jumping and bumped ZOOM BOOM. From the outside barrier, PRIME MINISTER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. PERFECT TO GREAT and CONGRATULATION were also steadied to obtain cover in the early stages. When being steadied to obtain cover behind PERFECT TO GREAT approaching the 1400 Metres, CONGRATULATION travelled very keenly and proved difficult to settle. After the 900 Metres, RUNNING GLORY travelled wide and without cover. At the entrance to the Straight, NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE raced in restricted room between RUNNING GLORY and ZOOM BOOM (A Badel) which shifted out. NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE was then held up for clear running passing the 400 Metres when continuing to race in restricted room between those horses. A Badel was told to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for his fellow riders in similar circumstances when shifting ground. Passing the 300 Metres, LOOKING COOL was shifted to the outside of COBHFIELD to continue improving. Close to the finishing line, LOOKING COOL shifted out abruptly across the heels of LET’S DO IT, resulting in LOOKING COOL being severely checked. ENTRUSTED, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of LOOKING COOL in consequence. The racing manners of LOOKING COOL over the concluding stages were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LOOKING COOL will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial. When questioned, R Maia stated that in the early stages he allowed his mount to improve its position from a wide barrier as COBHFIELD had previously proven difficult to steady when restrained. He said passing the 1200 Metres he attempted to obtain cover behind MAJESTIC VICTORY, however, as ZOOM BOOM maintained its position behind that horse, he then allowed COBHFIELD to improve forward of MAJESTIC VICTORY. He said after the 1100 Metres COBHFIELD commenced to travel keenly and at this time his saddle shifted forward, placing him at a significant disadvantage for the remainder of the race and resulting in him being unable to steady COBHFIELD after shifting across to race outside SUPER WINNER. When questioned, C Wong (SUPER WINNER) stated that he was able to obtain the lead in the early stages as instructed. He said after the 1000 Metres he became aware that COBHFIELD was improving its position to his outside and given his instructions, he was reluctant to allow that horse to cross SUPER WINNER. He said because COBHFIELD and SUPER WINNER were racing on terms after the 1000 Metres, he was unaware that the saddle had shifted on COBHFIELD and had he have been aware of this he may have steadied his mount and allowed COBHFIELD to improve into the lead and then shifted to the outside of that horse. A veterinary inspection of PRIME MINISTER and MAJESTIC VICTORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. RUNNING GLORY and SUPER WINNER were sent for sampling.
