ROYAL PRIDE was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, SKY FOREVER was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. After being steadied in the early stages, A SMILE LIKE YOURS was left racing wide and without cover passing the 900 Metres. Near the 450 Metres, WOOD ON FIRE and A SMILE LIKE YOURS raced tight as WOOD ON FIRE shifted to the outside of BE READY. After the 200 Metres, SCOTCH TYCOON commenced to lay out under pressure and passing the 50 Metres shifted out and inconvenienced JOYFUL WIN. When SCOTCH TYCOON shifted out, the whip of its rider momentarily became caught underneath the neck of JOYFUL WIN. A veterinary inspection of ARMOUR EAGLE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. A veterinary inspection of TRADER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ARMOUR EAGLE, SCOTCH TYCOON and BE READY were sent for sampling.
