ASTRO KING, first Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 7.3.22 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, ASTRO KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
On arrival at the Start, Z Purton expressed concern regarding the action of WILD WEST WING. An examination of WILD WEST WING found that horse to be suitable to race after the necessary consultations.
WHAT A LEGEND began only fairly.
OVERSUBSCRIBED and FABULOUS EIGHT bumped at the start.
SUPER AXIOM shifted out at the start and bumped NEXTMODEL.
On jumping, FLYING DRAGON lifted its front feet off the ground, shifted in and bumped CANTSTOPTHEFEELING. FLYING DRAGON then shifted out, resulting in SEE U AGAIN being hampered. After this, from wide barriers, FLYING DRAGON and SEE U AGAIN were then steadied and shifted across behind runners.
Near the 950 Metres, WILD WEST WING shifted out and brushed the hindquarters of CANTSTOPTHEFEELING. WILD WEST WING then momentarily raced in restricted room between CANTSTOPTHEFEELING and NEXTMODEL which shifted out.
Approaching the 950 Metres, OVERSUBSCRIBED was crowded for room between FABULOUS EIGHT and CIRCUIT SEVEN which got its head on the side and shifted out.
Passing the 600 Metres, OVERSUBSCRIBED was awkwardly placed inside the heels of FABULOUS EIGHT.
Near the 350 Metres, FABULOUS EIGHT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of NEXTMODEL when being shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running.
Passing the 100 Metres, WHAT A LEGEND was shifted in away from the heels of SUPER AXIOM to continue improving.
Over the concluding stages, FLYING DRAGON was held up for clear running behind OVERSUBSCRIBED and because of this was not ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
Also over the concluding stages, SUPER COMMANDER lay in under pressure.
A veterinary inspection of KA YING SPIRIT immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, KA YING SPIRIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of NEXTMODEL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FABULOUS EIGHT, CIRCUIT SEVEN and SUPER COMMANDER were sent for sampling.
