POWERFUL WINGS lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and began only fairly. POWERFUL WINGS then lost ground when crowded for room inside PALACE PAL which shifted in. RACING FIGHTER shifted out at the start and bumped SAUVESTRE which became unbalanced. After this, despite being ridden along, RACING FIGHTER failed to muster speed. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, REGENCY BO BO failed to muster speed and after travelling a short distance was bumped by PARTY EVERYDAY which was taken in by THE CROWN which after bumping PARTY EVERYDAY became unbalanced and shifted in further. From the outside barrier, ANGELS HUNTER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. From a wide barrier, RUNNING GLORY was also steadied to obtain cover. Passing the 800 Metres, PARTY EVERYDAY momentarily raced in restricted room inside RUNNING GLORY. Passing the 700 Metres, ANGELS HUNTER and RUNNING GLORY bumped as both horses raced tight. HARMONY WIN WIN lay out rounding the Home Turn. SEATTLE CHOICE was held up for clear running from shortly after entering the Straight until near the 150 Metres. COMPASSION SPIRIT had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Passing the 300 Metres, THE CROWN, which was giving ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of RUNNING GLORY which shifted out. Near the 100 Metres, POWERFUL WINGS was hampered when crowded for room between PALACE PAL and SEASONS BLISS which, after initially shifting out away from the heels of SEATTLE CHOICE, then shifted further. Then over the concluding stages, POWERFUL WINGS was awkwardly placed inside the heels of PALACE PAL. Because of this, POWERFUL WINGS was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race. For the majority of the race, SEASONS BLISS travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of THE CROWN immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of REGENCY BO BO, SEASONS BLISS and HARMONY WIN WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. RUNNING GLORY, SAUVESTRE and COMPASSION SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
