REGENCY GEM stood flat-footed as the start was effected and consequently lost a significant amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, REGENCY GEM will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. THE ELITES lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and began only fairly. E HONEY shifted out at the start and bumped GOLDEN MISSION. MASTERWORK, which was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly and then despite being ridden along in the early stages was slow to muster speed. From wide barriers, TRONIC MIGHTY and MAN UP were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1000 Metres, WISDOM PATCH commenced to travel very keenly and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of CIGAR BUDDIES. Passing the 900 Metres, MASTERWORK shifted out and inconvenienced FORTUNE HAPPINESS. TRONIC MIGHTY got its head on the side and lay out approaching and passing the 600 Metres. WISDOM PATCH (K C Leung) was badly held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 250 Metres was shifted to the outside of CIGAR BUDDIES which resulted in JADE THEATRE, which was giving ground, being bumped and crowded for room. K C Leung was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. In the early part of the Straight, L Hewitson (E HONEY) dropped his right rein. Passing the 250 Metres, E HONEY turned its head to the left and attempted to savage MASTERWORK. Trainer C Fownes will be advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of E HONEY and should the horse offend in a similar manner again, further action may be taken. THE ELITES was held up for clear running after the 200 Metres. Throughout the race, BOYS PARTY travelled wide and without cover. After the race, Z Purton was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of JADE THEATRE. He said after being ridden along in the early stages to obtain a forward position, JADE THEATRE came under pressure on entering the Straight and then did not finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of JADE THEATRE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of BOYS PARTY, MAN UP and CIGAR BUDDIES immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. E HONEY, GOLDEN MISSION and MASTERWORK were sent for sampling.
