Trainer T P Yung was fined the sum of $3,000 for presenting CHIU CHOW BROTHER in the Parade Ring with a parade hood, which was not part of that horse’s declared gear. SHINY ONE was slow to begin. BEAUTY SPIRIT shifted in at the start and bumped CHATER PINS. JIANGXI STAMINA began awkwardly and then was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From wide barriers, REGENCY MASTER, CHARGE ON and FLASH FAMOUS were all steadied shortly after the start to obtain cover. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, DR WINNING raced tight inside CHATER PINS which got its head on the side and shifted in away from RUN THE TABLE despite the efforts of its rider. Passing the 500 Metres, REGENCY MASTER raced tight outside JIANGXI STAMINA which shifted out under pressure. FLASH FAMOUS was held up for clear running from approaching the 150 Metres until the concluding stages and near the 100 Metres got its head up when being checked away from the heels of CHIU CHOW BROTHER. Because of this, FLASH FAMOUS was not able to be properly tested. Throughout the race, RUN THE TABLE travelled wide and without cover. After the race, A Hamelin reported that CHATER PINS came off the bridle prior to the 700 Metres and he had to ride his mount along vigorously for some distance after this to maintain its position. He said then in the Straight CHATER PINS did not finish the race off. A veterinary inspection of CHATER PINS immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CHATER PINS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on JIANGXI STAMINA at the request of Trainer W Y So. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed the horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. A veterinary inspection of REGENCY MASTER and RUN THE TABLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. DR WINNING and VIVA HUNTER were sent for sampling.
