TOTAL POWER was checked on jumping when crowded for room between CHEERFUL DAYS which shifted in and TORONADO PHANTOM which was taken out by FARSHAD which, after initially shifting out of its own accord, was then taken out by SUPER WINNER. In this incident, FARSHAD also lost ground whilst TORONADO PHANTOM became unbalanced. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, FARSHAD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of INVINCIBLE MISSILE when racing tight inside TORONADO PHANTOM. For some distance approaching and passing the 800 Metres, EVERYONE’S DELIGHT got its head on the side and lay out. Approaching the 800 Metres, SUPER WINNER, which was travelling keenly, was steadied away from the heels of YO BEAUTY (M F Poon) which shifted in when not properly clear. M F Poon was severely reprimanded and told to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Passing the 700 Metres, LIFELINE VISION was shifted out away from the heels of EVERYONE’S DELIGHT after being awkwardly placed behind that horse. When questioned, K H Chan stated that he is aware that SUPER WINNER can travel keenly in its races. He said after the 1200 Metres YO BEAUTY commenced to improve forward of SUPER WINNER and as the race was being run at a genuine tempo, he was reluctant to ride his mount along to maintain his position inside that horse as he was concerned that SUPER WINNER may then commence to over-race. He said after the 1000 Metres when the race was continuing to be run at a good tempo, he attempted to steady SUPER WINNER to follow YO BEAUTY in the hope that this would help SUPER WINNER to relax. He said when YO BEAUTY took some time to improve forward of SUPER WINNER, this resulted in his mount travelling keenly and being awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse near the 800 Metres. After the race, Z Purton stated that after having to make use of his horse to obtain a forward position from the outside barrier, EVERYONE’S DELIGHT travelled only fairly in the middle stages. He said when LIFELINE VISION improved its position around EVERYONE’S DELIGHT passing the 600 Metres, he had to ride his mount along earlier than he had hoped to prevent that horse from improving its position around EVERYONE’S DELIGHT. He said he was of the opinion that having to make use of his horse in the early stages and then having to ride his mount from the 600 Metres were the reasons for EVERYONE’S DELIGHT then not being able to finish off the race in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of EVERYONE’S DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. TORONADO PHANTOM, CHEERFUL DAYS and INVINCIBLE MISSILE were sent for sampling.
