CAPTAIN WIN began only fairly.
COPARTNER AMBITION began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped BEAUTY LEGACY. COPARTNER AMBITION was then crowded for room between BEAUTY LEGACY which shifted in and GORYTUS.
From wide barriers, CRAIG’S STAR, KING TOURBILLON and KYRUS UNICORN were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching and passing the 1300 Metres, BEAUTY LEGACY travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover.
Passing the 1000 Metres, CIRCUIT MIGHTY was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of PARTERRE.
Making the turn near the 900 Metres, PARTERRE and DRAGON FORTUNE bumped.
Approaching the 800 Metres, CIRCUIT MIGHTY was left racing wide and without cover.
Rounding the Home Turn, PARTERRE was shifted to the outside of GORYTUS to obtain clear running and in doing so brushed CIRCUIT MIGHTY. CIRCUIT MIGHTY then got its head on the side and shifted out away from PARTERRE which resulted in COPARTNER AMBITION becoming badly unbalanced after bumping BEAUTY LEGACY.
At the entrance to the Straight, CAPTAIN WIN was steadied away from the heels of ROYAL PRIDE when held up for clear running between that horse and HORSESAIN BOLT. After this, CAPTAIN WIN and HORSESAIN BOLT raced tight as HORSESAIN BOLT improved to the outside of GORYTUS. CAPTAIN WIN then had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 200 Metres.
DRAGON FORTUNE was held up for clear running from on straightening until passing the 150 Metres.
Passing the 100 Metres, Z Purton (CAPTAIN WIN) dropped his whip.
Close to the finishing line, KYRUS UNICORN and ROYAL PRIDE both raced in restricted room between COPARTNER AMBITION which was racing tight inside BEAUTY LEGACY which lay in under pressure and GORYTUS which shifted out.
After the race, M Chadwick reported that he had to do too much work on SPEED FAY FAY to cross runners on its inside from a wide barrier to obtain a forward position. He said because of the use he had to make of SPEED FAY FAY in the early stages, the horse was then not able to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of SPEED FAY FAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
