Just prior to the start being effected, CIRCUIT SEVEN, which finished in 4th placing, got its head up and to the right, resulting in the horse beginning awkwardly and losing ground. NOBODY KNOWS was bumped and lost ground on jumping when crowded for room between EVER JOY which shifted in after brushing BEAUTY AMIGO and LEAN LEGEND which shifted out away from CHARMING STEED after being bumped by that horse which in turn was crowded for room outside HAPPY TANGO (K Teetan) which was taken out by WILD WEST WING. EVER JOY then became unbalanced after being bumped by BEAUTY AMIGO which was taken in by JOYFUL WIN (M Chadwick) which, when being ridden along, shifted ground. In this incident, BEAUTY AMIGO became badly unbalanced after bumping EVER JOY when being shifted in away from the heels of JOYFUL WIN. M Chadwick was reprimanded. After the race, K Teetan stated that as a result of being crowded for room outside WILD WEST WING, HAPPY TANGO was not able to muster speed and obtain a more forward position. From the outside barriers, JOYFUL GENIUS and TRAVEL DATUK were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Near the 550 Metres, LEAN LEGEND lost ground when crowded for room between EVER JOY and CIRCUIT SEVEN which shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY TANGO. At the entrance to the Straight, CIRCUIT SEVEN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BEAUTY AMIGO when being shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running. In the early part of the Straight, JOYFUL GENIUS got its head on the side and lay in and was reluctant to shift to the outside of EVER JOY. JOYFUL GENIUS then continued to lay in under pressure in the Straight. EVER JOY lay in under pressure in the Straight and approaching the 50 Metres was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BEAUTY AMIGO. For the majority of the race, BEAUTY AMIGO travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, C Y Ho stated that rounding the Home Turn he commenced to shift CHARMING STEED, which was having its first race start tonight, to the outside of REGENT GLORY to obtain clear running. He said at the entrance to the Straight CHARMING STEED got its head on the side and lay in and was reluctant to shift to the outside of REGENT GLORY. He said as CHARMING STEED was laying in and there was clear running for CHARMING STEED inside REGENT GLORY and WILD WEST WING, he allowed his mount to shift in whilst riding it along rather than continue to attempt to shift to the outside of REGENT GLORY. He added he was able to improve inside WILD WEST WING approaching the 200 Metres and that CHARMING STEED was never held up for clear running. He said although CHARMING STEED continue to lay in under pressure for the remainder of the race, the horse finished off the race well. JOYFUL WIN and CHARMING STEED were sent for sampling.
