Steward Report Predict Pace Map
Just prior to the start being effected, TELECOM CHEETAH became fractious, lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin. Also as the start was effected, SUPER FAST got its head down and to the left which resulted in the horse being slow to begin, shifting out and bumping TELECOM CHEETAH, causing both horses to become unbalanced. This resulted in SUPER FAST racing back in the field. FLASH FAMOUS shifted out on jumping and bumped the hindquarters of SMART FOLKS. LONDON LUCKYSTAR began awkwardly and then was bumped by OH BRAVO which shifted out. This resulted in LONDON LUCKYSTAR being taken out onto VICTORIOUS SEEKER and DIONYSUS COLLIN which were inconvenienced. After this, VICTORIOUS SEEKER and DIONYSUS COLLIN were steadied to obtain cover. From the outside barriers, YES WE CAN and SURE WIN WIN were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, DOUBLE TAKE was steadied when crowded for room inside UNITE SPIRIT when racing tight inside OH BRAVO which, after initially shifting in of its own accord, then raced tight inside LONDON LUCKYSTAR. In the early stages, VICTORIOUS SEEKER was left racing wide and without cover and after the 1000 Metres was allowed to improve into a more forward position, however, continued to race wide and without cover. After the 600 Metres, DOUBLE TAKE raced in restricted room when attempting to improve between LONDON LUCKYSTAR and VICTORIOUS SEEKER where there was insufficient room. After the 150 Metres, C L Chau (FLASH FAMOUS) dropped his left rein which he was able to regather passing the 100 Metres. In the Straight, PARTY EVERYDAY lay out under pressure. When questioned regarding LONDON LUCKYSTAR being ridden in a more forward position, K Teetan stated that in the Parade Ring prior to the start, he recommended to connections that they gave consideration to riding the horse positively in the early stages and obtaining a forward position. He said it was felt that SUPER FAST would be ridden to lead from barrier 1 and given that SUPER FAST was a good chance in the race carrying 133 lbs with LONDON LUCKYSTAR only being required to carry 113 lbs, it would be advantageous for LONDON LUCKYSTAR not to have to give that horse to much start. He said it was therefore agreed that he should ride LONDON LUCKYSTAR positively in the early stages and attempt to obtain a position behind SUPER FAST. He said it was also noted that earlier winners of tonight’s races had been successful when being ridden on the speed. He said after beginning well he rode his mount along and when it was apparent to him that SUPER FAST was not able to lead as had been anticipated, he therefore continued forward with OH BRAVO in the early stages. He said when OH BRAVO took some time to cross runners to its inside, this resulted in him having to do more work than he had hoped and having to race outside the lead rather than behind the speed which had been envisaged. A veterinary inspection of LONDON LUCKYSTAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. When questioned regarding OH BRAVO being ridden in a forward position, A Badel stated that with the step-up to 1800 Metres tonight and OH BRAVO having drawn reasonably in barrier 7, it was felt that the opportunity presented itself for the horse to be ridden in a more forward position than had been the case. He said he was asked to ride OH BRAVO in the first four but was not under any specific instructions as to lead or to take a trailing position behind the lead. He said after beginning well he rode OH BRAVO along in the early stages and felt that he was going to obtain a forward position relatively easily, however, runners to his inside maintained their positions which resulted in him having to do more work on OH BRAVO than had been anticipated. He added OH BRAVO travelled fairly in the lead in the middle stages, however, came under pressure prior to the Home Turn and then did not finish off the race. He added based on the manner in which OH BRAVO raced tonight, he did recommend to connections that they consider dropping the horse back in distance in its future starts and riding it more conservatively. A veterinary inspection of OH BRAVO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SUPER FAST immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a laceration on the chest which was most likely caused by the breast plate. SUPER FAST, PARTY EVERYDAY and VICTORIOUS SEEKER were sent for sampling.
