SPEEDY DRAGON began only fairly and then lost further ground when bumped by WINNING STRIKES which was taken out by HAPPY HOUR. From the outside barrier, DASHING GRACE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 1200 Metres, WINNING STRIKES was checked when crowded for room inside THE FULL BLOOM which, after getting its head on the side and shifting in away from SEIZE THE SPIRIT (J Moreira), was then taken in marginally by that horse before being corrected. J Moreira was advised that the Stewards were satisfied that THE FULL BLOOM shifting in and away from SEIZE THE SPIRIT had played a significant role in this incident, however, he was reprimanded and told that he should have corrected his mount sooner than he did on this occasion to prevent THE FULL BLOOM racing tight inside SEIZE THE SPIRIT as that horse shifted in across the running of WINNING STRIKES. Near the 950 Metres, KWAI CHUNG ELITE and WINNING STRIKES bumped. Then near the 900 Metres, KWAI CHUNG ELITE raced tight inside WINNING STRIKES which got its head up and shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of THE FULL BLOOM. Passing the 400 Metres, NOBLE MAN raced tight outside BLAZING PARTNERS which shifted out from behind KELMIMI WINS to obtain clear running. BLAZING PARTNERS then shifted out and brushed NOBLE MAN passing the 300 Metres and again shifted out under pressure after the 200 Metres. Throughout the race, THE FULL BLOOM and SEIZE THE SPIRIT travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of NOBLE MAN and WINNING STRIKES immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SPEEDY DRAGON immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SPEEDY DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FOX CHEUNGER and BLAZING PARTNERS were sent for sampling.
