Steward Report Predict Pace Map
SKY SHOW shifted in at the start and bumped LOVING A BOOM. TRIPLE TRIPLE shifted out at the start and bumped MAJESTIC STAR. WINE AND WINE began awkwardly and shortly after the start shifted out and bumped NOBLE STEED. After this, NOBLE STEED was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. From the outside barrier, RED TITAN was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. Approaching the 1100 Metres, EXUBERANT was awkwardly placed outside the heels of MAJESTIC STAR which shifted out. Passing the 1050 Metres, LOVING A BOOM was steadied when racing tight inside SKY SHOW which was taken in by TRIPLE TRIPLE which got its head on the side and lay in away from SPARKLING DRAGON. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, WOOD ON FIRE lay in towards the heels of NOBLE STEED, resulting in WOOD ON FIRE losing ground. Also making the turn after the 600 Metres, SPARKLING DRAGON got its head on the side and shifted out, resulting in SPARKLING DRAGON being momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of WINE AND WINE. Passing the 100 Metres, SPARKLING DRAGON shifted out abruptly, requiring its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount. Close to the finishing line, EXUBERANT and EQUALETTA BLITZ bumped. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MAJESTIC STAR, J Moreira stated that in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount along in the early stages to obtain a forward position. He said when TRIPLE TRIPLE and SKY SHOW maintained their position to the inside of MAJESTIC STAR, this resulted in the horse being left racing in a three wide position after the 1000 Metres. He said when racing behind WINE AND WINE after the 1000 Metres, MAJESTIC STAR did not travel comfortably and it was not until WINE AND WINE was able to shift in to a two wide position after the 900 Metres and MAJESTIC STAR was left racing without cover that the horse commenced to travel more kindly. He said MAJESTIC STAR was able to improve its position to be racing outside WINE AND WINE near the 600 Metres and at this stage he was happy with the manner in which the horse was travelling. He said however that after the 500 Metres MAJESTIC STAR came off the bridle when the pace of the race increased and the horse was not able to show the same turn of foot at this stage as the other runners. He added he placed MAJESTIC STAR under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, however, the horse commenced to give ground noticeably and weakened out of the race over the concluding stages. He said given the manner in which MAJESTIC STAR gave ground in the Straight, he was not able to offer any explanation for the horse’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection of MAJESTIC STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MAJESTIC STAR, a last start winner, favourite for tonight’s race and which finished at the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MAJESTIC STAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of WINE AND WINE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MAJESTIC STAR, SPARKLING DRAGON and LOVING A BOOM were sent for sampling.
