PURE LEGEND began only fairly.
STOICISM shifted out at the start and bumped PERFECT PAIR.
NOBLE STEED shifted out on jumping and bumped the hindquarters of BELUGA.
From wide barriers, NEW FUTURE, IMA SINGLE MAN and AMAZING BEATS were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 900 Metres, BELUGA was left racing wide and without cover.
In the early and middle stages, HARMONY WIN WIN travelled keenly.
Passing the 500 Metres, NOBLE STEED advanced to be racing close to the heels of PERFECT PAIR and clipped that horse’s heels, resulting in NOBLE STEED stumbling.
Also passing the 500 Metres, HARMONY WIN WIN lay out and bumped BEAUTY LEGACY, causing BEAUTY LEGACY to become unbalanced and HARMONY WIN WIN to become badly unbalanced. Then near the 450 Metres, HARMONY WIN WIN, which continued to be unbalanced, was crowded for room between BEAUTY LEGACY and PURE LEGEND (M Chadwick) which shifted out before being directed back in to relieve the tightening to HARMONY WIN WIN. M Chadwick was severely reprimanded and told that whilst there were some circumstances to this incident, nonetheless he must ensure that he exercises more care than he did on this occasion when shifting ground.
Passing the 400 Metres, HARMONY WIN WIN was steadied away from the heels of PURE LEGEND which shifted out away from the heels of DIVINE REGULUS. M Chadwick was reprimanded.
Rounding the Home Turn, PERFECT PAIR and BELUGA raced tight as PERFECT PAIR attempted to shift out to obtain clear running. When PERFECT PAIR was unable to shift to the outside of BEAUTY LEGACY, PERFECT PAIR was very awkwardly placed behind that horse and held up for clear running until passing the 350 Metres at which stage the horse was directed to the outside of BELUGA to obtain clear running.
Close to the finishing line, HARMONY WIN WIN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DIVINE REGULUS.
After the race, J Moreira stated that after being crossed by HARMONY WIN WIN after the 1000 Metres, BEAUTY LEGACY commenced to travel keenly which it had done in some of its previous races. He said however that this did not explain the manner in which BEAUTY LEGACY came off the bridle near the 500 Metres. He said although BEAUTY LEGACY was bumped by HARMONY WIN WIN near the 500 Metres, his mount was already under pressure at this stage and then was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY LEGACY immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a minor laceration to the left hind heel.
A veterinary inspection of AMAZING BEATS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BELUGA and TRUE LEGEND were sent for sampling.
